Hi all!

This is our third installment of the Patrons Ask GN series. Please leave your questions in the GN Discord for next time!

In this episode, we talk getting stranded in China, ASUS BIOS flashing for Raven Ridge, memory training on GPUs, and SSD voltage susceptibility.

Thanks, all!

Also, our new BTS video is filmed for $5 backers. That'll go up soon.

Patrons Ask GN 3: GN Stranded in China, Memory Training

This Patrons Ask GN episode talks about that time we were stranded in China, but also details memory training and SSD voltage. 00:57 – FatiCati: “Why does all the cool stuff cat likes cost so much” 02:03 - GPU 'Surge Pricing': “@GN Staff Going to Hong Kong & Tokyo in May. Any must see 'tech' sites you'd recommend, while on vacation? Are 'Tech Tubers' treated differently vs the 'conventional media outlets'?” 11:31 – Streetguru: “#askgn-questions @Steve Burke following up on WAN show, does ASUS hold some patent for BIOS flashing without a CPU? Or could AMD Implement that feature within a future chipset for everyone to use? As it requires an extra something on the motherboard correct?” 12:31 – Notwist: “@Steve Burke does the concept of "training" apply to GPUs? In summary, is there a higher likelihood achieving a stable overclock at any given voltage if the user slowly steps up to it over the course of a few days (or weeks even)?” 13:58 - Rc160: “#askgn-questions someone from my local computer store told me that SSDs are more susceptible to damages from voltage fluctuations. Where I live, the voltage does fluctuate quite a bit although most of my electronics are doing okay. Am I better off with a HDD instead?” We have a new GN store: https://store.gamersnexus.net/ Like our content? I don't know if this is where you ask questions but here's mine. I constantly see people saying that games don't use more than 4 cores on a CPU but I have a 1950X and have noticed several games using all 32 threads. Do those games benefit from high core count and if not, will they in the future? Will 1950X ever be more value in a game @ 3.7Ghz than an 8 thread @ 5.0Ghz. Sorry for my terrible method of questioning haha

Good question and no worries! I'll paste this to the Discord so that we can get it for next time.

Just be glad you didn't have to goto Macau during the Grand Prix weekend.
