OKAY so, that Larsen pic is a redraw from the very first time I drew him :

Granted Larsen used is tchnically older than that pic since he used to be a completely different character but I'll say that this incarnation of Larsen started with that pic and that'll be that. No arguing. Anyway, I redid it cos after drawing the cover art I still wasn't certain how much I'd be willing to keep pushing art with the tools I had given how tedious it felt, so I decided on something that I wouldn't mind giving up. But I kept at it, finished it, then thought that I might as well do a Zee to have the pair. So there we are. That's all I finished during my vacation. (There were a bunch of sketches as well, nothing worth showing.)

Now then. As I said, I'm going to start posting Disintegrity on every website tomorrow starting with this stuff. So it starts with some bad news for patrons : all the pages I had posted on Deviant art were deleted cos I fucked up while removing some commissions in the stash.

I'll probably reupload it sometime soon but right now I'm tired and going to bed. I'll also start uploading the hi-res version of the pages in here when I intendo to make the smaller resolution publicly available.

Forgot to say but the old Larsen pic is from late 2013

man it's pretty neat how you can see your skills advance - the old pic was a lot flatter, the shading all just sort of felt like it was a soft airbrush layer overtop, instead of actual contours and shadows. The fabric isn't just pasted on anymore, it actually follows the contours of the body it's draped or stretched over. And you've always had a pretty characteristic like distorted stretchy kind of way of proportioning your faces and figures, I really particularly appreciate that about your stuff, but you can see in the second one that you've kept that distinctness while also somehow making it all seem more believably rendered? Like his pose is still kind of an exaggerated anime deal, or whatever, but it seems like it's a real thing that makes sense for his body to be able to do, while the old one just looked a bit more... I dunno, cartoony?

anyway, A PLUS SHOWS IMPROVEMENT

I still have the old file with all the layers for that first pic of Larsen and there's one layer I drew him naked in there, I think it was because I wanted to get the anatomy right. Looking at it years later, that nakedness actually accentuated all the way in which the pose and anatomy are screwed up.
