Jesus Paid It All

text: Elvina M. Hall

music: John Grape

arrangement: Terry Scott Taylor

I hear the Savior say,
“Thy strength indeed is small;
Child of weakness, watch and pray,
Find in Me thine all in all.”

Lord, now indeed I find
Thy power and Thine alone,
Can change the leper’s spots
And melt the heart of stone.

Jesus paid it all, All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow.

For nothing good have I
Whereby Thy grace to claim,
I’ll wash my garments white
In the blood of Calv’ry’s Lamb.

And when before the throne
I stand in Him complete,
“Jesus died my soul to save,”
My lips shall still repeat.

Jesus paid it all, All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow.

Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow.

vocal and guitar: T.S. Taylor

additional vocal: Deborah Taylor

note:

The discerning listener will notice that the chorus melody on my version of “Jesus Paid It All” has been slightly altered. Some of you may not give a rat’s behind about this variation, while others might (although it’s highly unlikely) get as enraged about this as I do whenever I happen to hear a ‘Maroon 5’ song playing somewhere. Okay…I have a confession to make: This melody modification wasn’t intentional on my part. You see, when I recorded the vocal on JPIA I was relying on my memory to supply the proper notes and, well, I got it slightly wrong. Full disclosure: since I have been falling behind in my Patreon schedule, primarily due to some health issues, I decided to let the slight mistakes slide. I only took this route because you Patreon folks are the kind, understanding, and generous people you are. Let me assure you that I’m doing much better now health wise and the plan is to get back on schedule ASAP. Oh, and one more thing: My wife Debi joins me in singing the chorus to JPIA; it’s always a pleasure to have her join me on the vocals (I need to do it more often). Like me Deb dearly loves the old hymns.

Your health is indeed top priority, uncle Terry. Let those errant notes stain the song with a little unexpected color while the canvas passes through your hands, one among many through the differing ages.

Excellent! And amen.
