I've Only Built Her Cloud
from the album "Avocado Faultline"

Words & Music by Terry Scott Taylor
©2000 Zoom Daddy Music (BMI)

I've got a princess who
wears a second hand dress
She tells me "Baby,
I know you've done your best"

Though I've found comfort
In the love we vowed
I can't help thinkin' that I've
let her down
Well, I'd do anything
to make her proud
Deserves a castle
I've only built her a cloud

Each day I work hard,
But time, it is no friend
One day you look up
and find you're near the end

There are some words too
dark to say aloud
like how you're thinkin' that there's
no way out
Though she's got faith in me
I have my doubts
Dservers a castle
I've only built her a cloud

She says "This cloud is
pretty close to heaven,
we should count our lucky stars"
I've heard each cloud
has a silver lining,
but I just see the rain in ours

Love to surprise her,
give her diamonds and pearls
If I could do it
she knows I'd give her the world

Though I've found comfort
in the love we've vowed
I can't help thinkin' that I've
let her down
I'd do anything
to make her proud
Deserves a castle
I've only built her a cloud

First I like to say I really don't look like this. My ears are a little shorter. This is one song I will be playing over & over again! Thanks!

Can't believe Avocado Faultline is almost 20 years old - I remember Terry kindly signing it for me at Cornerstone - and it has been well worn. It's a masterpiece of balance as an album with no duds - the songs are just delightful pieces which have grown with me. The line "heaven knows I love this man - he's more than half of who I am" is probably my favourite on the album...
