So we meet Martha Jones! This episode really demonstrated the strong qualities she possesses that drew the doctor to her. Plus we had alien rhinos on the moon! What’s not to love.

A good way to try and reel in your expectations when people hype up specific eras or episodes, is to remember the golden rule - one man's trash (season) is another man's treasure(d favourite). Most NuWho fanatics grew up on the RTD era/Tennant, or at least tuned in for the specials w family, so it's kind of like a golden child era and so gets alot of (deserved, imo) praise. But, past RTD/Tennant you'll find that there's lots of disagreement on what the "best" episodes, companions, series are, even though each season, doctor, companion and episode has their own multitudes of fans themselves. Not necessarily because the quality increases or declines, but just because the more recent it gets, the less rose tinted glasses, kind of just like old albums by a band vs new songs. Basically, you're going to have more favourite and less favourite seasons, and with a show that's run this long, alot of folks can't even agree on what the "best" bits are because there's SO much to love. So, take everyone's opinions with a grain of salt, we're here to see you develop your own!

This is so true! A great example right now is Battlestar Galactica, for whatever reason on my season 3 final episodes so many people are telling me how much they hate the final season and how much I'll be disappointed, but like-- I'm loving it so much six episodes in 🤣 I enjoy enjoying things anyway. I'm can't wait to experience more of Doctor Who. I kind of started watching because of Karen Gillan and we obviously haven't even got to her yet!

Freema (Martha) isn't the only returning actress in this episode. Her mum, played by Adjoa Andoh, was one of the Nurse/Nun Cat's from New New Earth! Nice reaction again, excited to see the next one

I love that you point out that someone probably got crushed in the crater hahahaha!! Martha is so good. A trainee doctor! Who better to travel with THE Doctor. I know I'm playing catch up but I presume someone has mentioned you need to finish Torchwood season 1 before you get to the end of season 3 of Doctor Who?

Yes, I have quite an extensive viewing guide and have worked with a couple of people to craft a watch order that allows me to watch all 3 shows (including sarah jane adventures) without any long pauses on Doctor Who. It's all mapped on my calendar. So unless I made a huge gaffe everything should be in the right place.

Just gotta say. I wouldn't put much stock in what people say about how good or bad seasons or episodes are. This show has something for everyone. You've already gone through some of the universally considered "worst" episodes in Fear Her and Love and Monsters. If you liked them you'll like everything. I think some seasons, showrunners, companions, and doctors get a bad rap for things that are outside their control It's all personal preference. And even if the episode is "bad", they always habe a nugger of something important in them. I say, just enjoy the ride.
