Who else is over here crying? Sure the war was interesting, but it was the final moments of the episode that was truly gut wrenching.

This is the story about how Doomsday was spoiled for me. 😁 And how little it sometimes takes: I had a friend who worked on the production of the first 4 series. He was very good at keeping his mouth shut (as well you should be in that profession). But for the series 2 finale, he said seven words... just seven (or thereabouts): "I think you'll really love this one". There was a feel of a veiled hint there, and around the middle of "Army of Ghosts", I knew almost exactly how the rest would play out - and everything later in the two finale episodes just cemented it. 😐 Won't explain in much more detail, since that might spoil something entirely different, but Davies took some very clear inspiration for several aspects of the plot in this one from a different story that was a favorite of mine. Still loved this finale, though. A short note on the music for this episode: The piece heard over the aftermath and the journey to Norway is simply titled "Doomsday". The melody sung by Melanie Pappenheim only appeared prominently once before in the entire series - and was also sung by Pappenheim back then: When Rose first entered the TARDIS. That first appearance is often mis-remembered by fans as being "The Doctor's Theme" (which was *also* sung by Pappenheim), but the Doomsday theme's two widely separated appearances really work as nice bookends to Rose's journey. 🙂 It will only appear one more time, a looooong time from now, without any relation to the TARDIS, the Tenth Doctor, or Rose.

My OG trauma :)) I strongly disagree with the sentiment that a character dying is the most emotionally painful thing that can happen in a show haha. One of my favourite things about this episode is the cut to Rose's close up when Jackie and Pete embrace. This show has many moments of great emotion/character-driven editing like that.

Such a great episode. I cried soooo heavy from the second Jackie and Pete meet to the end. Catherine Tate appearing at the end is such whiplash following the painful goodbye of Doctor and Rose. I loved watching someone else cry as they experience this

I just love this episode. It's perfect, tragic, and a good ending for everyone all things considered. But Goodbye's are hard.
