Loved watching this one! Full of great characters, themes, and so many creative moments. I enjoyed feeling like a kid for a little while.

I let this movie get too big in my head. After years of hearing people talk about it as basically the Citizen Kane of kids' movies, I couldn't help being a bit let down by what's still a perfectly good movie with a great message at its heart. The one part I found really did live up to the hype was Nicole Kidman, delivering a perfectly calculated performance as a hammy kids' villain while still managing to not go too over the top. Then when I watched the sequel with more suitable expectations, that one actually did win me over just as much as everyone said this one would. And if the upcoming third film is on that same level, this is going to be one hell of a trio of movies.
