We’ve gone further than I ever could have guessed. Right into another dimension— even though it’s IMPOSSIBLE. What a treat to see a different version of our world where there’s clearly something sinister (and cyber) at work.

Roger Lloyd-Pack had played Tennant's father in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire the previous year, though they actually only had one brief scene together so this isn't quite as much of a big reunion as it could have been. And the fans were pretty cold to him at the time, calling him overly hammy when the role would better be served with a more quiet menace. They've mellowed on him since now that we have so many more similarly performed villains in the show so he doesn't stand out so much, though the character has also come into some criticism for playing into the "evil cripple" stereotype that RTD himself has taken great pains this very year to speak out against.

Interesting! He was definitely over the top compared to some of our past villains, but I'm trying to think-- how many human villains have we had? It didn't feel particularly odd to me, but I definitely appreciate the over the top elements of the Whoniverse
