This was a lot. I didn't understand what "exploitation films" were, but after Planet Terror I think I get the idea. I'll tell you what though, I wouldn't trade the last half hour of Death Proof for anything. It was wild.

One unfortunate part of going back to this movie is that Bruce Willis’ role bears an uncanny resemblance to what he filled the last couple years of his career with, tiny appearances in DTV schlock that he could quickly rack up before his dementia forced him to retire. It’s kind of surreal to see what he can do with this kind of cameo with his mind intact compared to those.

He definitely was GREAT in this. I’ve never seen any of those later films and likely won’t, but I’m so grateful for the many great performances he’s given us.

The missing reel in Planet Terror was always just supposed to be a joke where we have to just imagine what happened in those ten minutes, but the lap dance in Death Proof was actually filmed and they only decided to make it a second part of the joke later. And I'm really glad it did because it works way better. It's in the special features.
