This is a bit of a surprise, I didn't plan on doing it, but my new schedule allowed me some extra time and I just went for it.

The original found footage film! Three teenagers go into the woods to investigate stories of mysterious disappearances and the deep-rooted legend of a local witch. What did they find exactly? Hard to say, but we found the footage and it's quite a unique experience.

I didn't see this in the theater, but rented the DVD soon after. I instantly became grateful that I did NOT see it in a theater because they would have sued me for cleaning bills...even on TV I got so sick from the "shaky-cam" that I had to watch it in 20-minute segments. In fact I believe this was the film that started the shaky-cam trend of the early 2000s that caused me to walk out on a couple of films (including Cloverfield). I never anticipated this problem, although I did get carsick as a kid when I tried to read in the car. All that aside though, I found the acting and filming most effective...I have always thought "less-is-more" horror is much scarier than the all-stops-pulled "Poltergeist" style.

Oh wow, yea! It's wild how the shaky cam affects different people. Glad you didn't see this in theater, because it's gotta be the worst offender simply by it's very nature.

I saw this in the theater, and it FREAKED ME OUT. Everyone was saying it was true, but (skeptic that I am) I didn’t believe it for one simple reason: no footage would be in decent shape after being left in the woods for months or years. But I have to say, once the movie started, it did feel possible. I adore this film, and it’s my favorite FF movie to this day. After 1999, billions of crappy knock-offs started popping up (and still do), but at the time, it was completely unique. I came out of the theater a little bit motion sick, too, which was interesting. Even watching it now and even though - when you think about it - nothing actually HAPPENS, it’s still one of the few horror movies that genuinely creeps me out. The only thing that grates on me in subsequent watches is all the screechy arguing. Sadly, that seems to be something most of the knock-offs have adopted. But at least in Blair Witch, it’s believable. Oh, and I had the same blue plaid shirt that Josh wore. Spoooooky…

Love your rational for not believing it's real. The comments on this one have been so interesting ranging from people who compeltely believed it, to those who swear no one believed it. Such an intersting and mixed response to the film has made it very interesting!
