I’m not sure I’ve seen a movie exactly like this one. The performances were incredible and the story, one I wasn’t sure exactly how to take. Definitely a film that gave me some food for thought.

Oh, I'd add this: PT Anderson *KNOWS* The Bible (better than I do, I'd wager)... you're definitely right, Chris, that Book a' Samuel influenced this as did many other Bibly stories. His other films have (subtly woven in, mind you) Bible-story inspirations. Boogey Nights is full of 'em...VERY reimagined, mind you.

I always confuse this one with No country for old men for a split second for some reason

Came out same year? Similar esoteric titles? Master film makers' masterpieces? An indictment of the American frontier having found-fortune for unscrupulous taking at the complicating cost of losing one's soul both ending with the dissolution of old age being an empty desert containing only graves overflowing with greedy regrets dug by nihalstic devils, themselves without family or even simple humanity? Oh...no, I got it! Hats! Both movies: lots of wide brim hats! 🤠🤠🤠
