A confrontation for the books! A journey of growth, kind of? Fascinating episode focusing on Starbuck and Kat. Loved this one.

This was the point where I started seriously suspecting the show’s crew still had no idea what to replace the Arrow of Apollo story with, and were just flailing around with a bunch of one-shot stories desperately hoping someone would get an idea before the season ended. And as long as we’re stuck with that, at least this is a huge improvement over Black Market. In fact, the greatest compliment I can give is that it’s so well made that I don’t especially mind that the show is suddenly presenting us with a supposedly long term arch-nemesis Cylon ship that we’ve never once heard of before. It also helps that Kat had been just established enough among the other minor pilot characters that it’s easy to get invested in this greater focus on her, and feel like the development for both her and Starbuck at the end was earned.

I’m honestly surprised there haven’t been more episodes like this one. Just grateful this was such a good one. Unlike last week where after I wondered about suddenly adding this backstory for Apollo, I never questioned scar not being included before.
