This one will have to fight it out among the favorite movies I've reacted to. The story, the structure, the transitions, and the performances. I loved the movie as much as I hated her scum bag husband.

GASP! I didn't check back to see if this movie won, but I'm so glad it did! I can't wait to watch!

It didn't technically win, but for the first time I decided to break the tie by just doing both. I stand by the decision especially now because after watching both the game and this film, I'd vote Delores Claiborne!

As well known as Stephen King is for his horror stories, there's a camp of people who believe that Stephen King is at his best when he's doing straight up dramas, and I happen to be one of them. Stephen King will still sometimes add an element of the supernatural to his drama stories too (see Green Mile as just one an example of that), but it's those stories of his that focus at least mostly on 'drama' rather than 'scary' that are, to me, so much more impactful and stay in my mind so much more than even his most well-known horror stories. The Green Mile, Shawshank Redemption, Dolores Claiborne... These are just a few. He's written a bunch of other drama stories, some of which you haven't seen yet, and some of which haven't even gotten movie adaptations yet. One of my favorite stories.... no, scratch that - my FAVORITE story of his, EVER - is a mostly-drama (with a hint of supernatural splashed in) story called 'Rose Madder' that I go back and reread at least once or twice a year. This story, as well as Dolores Claiborne and Gerald's Game, are also examples of how Steven King is a MASTER at writing female characters and writing from a female perspective, which not a lot of male authors can pull off. Honestly when I read Rose Madder and Gerald's Game I'm astonished at how good he is at it.

I haven't yet read the books but based on the film adaptation I've seen I definitely can see that! Shawshank being my first, I assumed he has a lot of just drama mixed with the horror and was surprised when the green mile took the supernatural twist. Shawshank, Green Mile, and Dolores, and Misery are my adaptations so far.
