This was an AMAZING version of the classic tale. Surprisingly faithful. It didn’t shy away from the darker story elements, yet it never fully lost its almost childlike sense of whimsy. Truly captured the spirit of Christmas!

Just throwing this out there, but have you ever seen the 1951 British film version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL (aka SCROOGE)? It stars Alastair Sim as what I think is the definitive Scrooge. The rest of the cast is equally impressive. It's a beautiful expansion (but still faithful) version of the Dickens' book.

Oh this just makes me happy 😊 One of our absolute favorites. My mom and brother and I traditionally watch numerous versions of A Christmas Carol every year (and I personally also read the book and listen to it on audiobook) and every version has something special about it, but there is just something particularly warm and touching about this version. Also I remember as a kid hearing my mom comment on how great it was that Michael Caine was Scrooge, and I was the same way then, not having really a clue who Michael Caine was 😆

I think I saw both that film and the musical when I was in middle school, but I can assure you I remember them not. Maybe in the future I'll round out my Christmas story collection!

That's a great tradition! I used to always watch the santa claus and elf, but haven't in some time. There is something really special about the story of a Christmas carol though. I haven't even thought of getting the audiobook, I may just do that!
