Weird and scary? Yes. I also found it to be a fascinating character study and surprisingly moving! I enjoyed it FAR more than I expected.

I actually prefer the 1990 TV mini-series of this Stephen King story (except for the crappy monster they fight). Some of the actors are Richard Thomas, John Ritter, Dennis Christopher, Harry Anderson. As King really gets into the minds of kids, so does the mini-series.
