A night to remember! I really enjoyed watching how this night marked each of these characters! I had no idea it was inspired by George Lucas' personal experiences prior to watching. Great film.

Glad you enjoyed it; one of my all-time favorites for sure. While not officially a "blockbuster," it stayed in the theaters for over a year (successful movies did that a lot in the pre-VHS days) and made nearly 100 million on a budget of $777,000. The sound was edited by the brilliant Walter Murch (who worked with Coppola on The Godfather and Apocalypse Now). As you noted, the music is constantly present and changes between being a score for the film or a source from a radio. Wolfman Jack was a radio icon back in the day and was very much an omnipresent character in the film. Ron Howard (Steve) went on to star as Ritchie Cunningham in the Graffiti-inspired "Happy Days" TV show and Cindy Williams (Steve's girlfriend Laurie) starred in "Laverne and Shirley." The song-compilation soundtrack is one of the best of its kind, chock full of greatest hits of the do-wop and the early rock-and-roll era. Available at Amazon(TM).

Oh wow! It never occurred to me that this was made before happy days. That’s wild. Thanks for so much great info in this comment.
