Hey Patreon,

I hope all is well - I just wanted to drop a quick check-in before hunkering down on this timeline. Zoom in on the big chunk for what should be a self-explanatory clip titled, "Hotdog Teleportation".

I just got back from the painfully beautiful state of Colorado. I was asked to host the Mountain Towns conference, which is where a bunch of elected officials from small mountain towns get together with governmental, NGO, and small town stakeholders to figure out how to get ahead of climate change. Everything from sustainability officers describing how they're decarbonizing their buildings (looking at you, Louisville, Colorado) to creating and executing a climate plan (looking at you Jerry Tinianow and Lizzie Peyton).

I also got to spend some time with the Governor of Washington Jay Inslee and the President of Patagonia Jenna Johnson. I would say probably 80% of the conference goers owned a Patagonia vest, which must have made Jenna feel like the lead singer of a band performing for an audience of people wearing her band's merch. She was very cool about it. Governor Inslee was really smart, gave a great speech, and answered the Q&A like an absolute pro.

After the conference, I went back and spent a couple days with my parents including a trip to the Red Rocks amphitheater (my parents have recently gotten really into archeology for no discernible reason) as well as a trip to the Civilian Conservation Corps camp that housed the young men who built Red Rocks. It was an interesting visit since I've been thinking about the recent Biden Admin announcement of the Civilian Climate Corps and what it could mean for climate infrastructure and job creation.

Last but not least I got to hang out with my ol' Colorado friends. The sunset was out of control and my friend James made me pose for a yearbook photo by Wash Park in Denver.

Okay back to the edit bay.

Love,
Rollie

I’ve been thinking about getting to Red Rocks soon. But what is this civilian camp place? You’re saying the amphitheater was built by volunteers?

CCC folks were paid. Great program. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civilian_Conservation_Corps

Well, whenever you make it out to Oregon, you've got a couch to sleep on (and all the microphone tape you could ever need). Oh, and you will also have the mountains, desert, ocean, and a few other climates to play around in as well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
