Talk about a great sequel 🔥 The way they shot the fighter jet scenes was incredible. Especially after checking out the behind the scenes

Better than the original, and yes, damn emotional. Not surprisingly it was incredibly popular and did amazingly well. It's a thowback to the great action films of a while ago when American patriotism, strong male action heroes and a complete lack of 'wokeness' was the norm. It's a formula that works and people were thirsting for it. I think the decision to not describe what country the enemy came from, just labelling them as 'the enemy' was a good one, avoiding any political alienation or contemporary context that might detract from the story. Although the recent Iranian uranium enrichment controversy suggests a possible country for 'the enemy'. The dedication behind the scenes was impressive too, all the cockpit scenes were filmed in actual flight, the actors going up in the F18s for real and it made the scenes credible as the actors experienced the G forces and adrenaline in real life.

One problem with the movie is that there is no way Maverick could've ejected from the experimental plane at that speed. The maximum speed pilots have ever ejected is around 1,300kph. Mach 10 is 12,348kph, Mav would die instantly.

"Booties clapping?..." I love India's little dirty remarks, a little insight into her mind haha!

Penny Benjamin was mentioned in the first movie as a girl he took for a joyride in his F14. She was the daughter of an Admiral I believe.

I suspect that the pilot is inside a pod inside the cockpit that ejects as a whole, although even with that the pod would encounter such a wind force that Mav would break his neck with the whip lash, not to mention his body being crushed against his harness. Perhaps the pod is aerodynamic and has a minimal air resistance profile? I dunno.

The F14 wings came out to get more lift for the short takeoff.
