Better Call Saul is a perfect show in my opinion. My requirements for a perfect show are 2 things: every season has to be great and each season has to get better than the last. Not saying thats the only way I would like a show or think its excellent (Lost is my 2nd favorite show of all time and while its never bad it is definitely flawed at points) but it is so rare for a show to unquestionably fit those requirements. BCS, Breaking Bad, Attack on Titan, and The Leftovers are just some of the ones I have noticed fit that pattern almost unquestionably.

Wow, that was a fantastic episode. Saul and Lalo's conversation might be my favourite scene so far. Holy shit Bob Odenkirk KILLED that shit. And the guy who plays Lalo was great as well... his reaction/response to Saul saying that it's gonna be "expensive' was hilarious. Jimmy, your reaction to Mike breaking that guy's arm (twice) was brilliant. After the second break you went from shock to joy to spite all within a second. That's reaction gold right there ;) I am here for Kim's backstory. I need more of it, yesterday. I'm super curious to see where her motivations come from. In the mean time... damn... that old fella REALLY got to her. I hope she doesn't do anything stupid.

I am gonna say that the cinematography builds upon and now perfects what was started in Breaking Bad. Outstanding, amazing beautiful shots. And the Chuck stuff was its own excellence. Fantastically acted, ungratefulness, backstabbing, egotistical, we saw how Jimmy's nature could have been kept in check. It was fun drama, along with the rest of the stuff going on, everything building up and leading up to what we have now. This will now be the payoff, and we care and worry for the fate of the characters not around the Breaking Bad era.

You could say Chuck is Mycroft to Saul's Sherlock, but instead he's the goodie and Saul's the Moriarty.

It is sad rewatching the old episodes, knowing what is coming up, watching Jimmy help Chuck as much as he could, making a miserable wage, trying to keep Chuck from being upset at the hijinks Jimmy pulls. Chuck encouraging Jimmy on the honest path, and Jimmy almost beaming that his brother wants to work alongside of him, only to be betrayed in the end. And the thing is Chuck was not wrong, but he only saw the darkest parts of Jimmy out of jealousy. Chuck could have kept Jimmy on the path of honesty, kept him in check if he had truly been proud of Jimmy's accomplishments, instead of all the resentment, but maybe Jimmy would have gone off the rails regardless of the betrayal. I think Chuck was the integral part. And now Jimmy only cares about money, about himself, but also Kim. For now.

the GENIUS Of all this is the metaphorical threads. Kim yelling at the old man but her words are actually screaming at Jimmy. “Breaking the rules,” she cries! Jimmy sets bottle on the ledge—Kim stares at it because that’s not her— she’s not somebody who lives on the edge. Part of her I think he’s jealous and a part of her hates. So the next time she’s up there Jimmy is dropping the bottle and then catching it chopping it and catching it and she says fuck it... starts throwing them.. The ice cream to the pavement and the ants descending upon it... The brilliance of the writing and the direction of the show is everything it’s saying without words!
