Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

Huh. I hadn't seen this in a very long time. I have to say that it didn't hold up anywhere near as much as I remembered - and I guess, based upon Jimmy/Dummy's reaction to Fifth Element, we could have guessed that this might not be their bag. Yeah, I think we done goofed recommending this one over Robocop. Oh well. I think my favourite part of the reaction was the look on Jimmy's face after Dizz and Ratchet (?) got killed within a few minutes of each other. Lol, the look of a man who is SO DONE with this movie. That and his reaction to Dummy's plug at the end :) Anyhow, Mortal Kombat could be fun for Monday's film!

Jimmy loved the fifth element though. He just had a rough start with it. Dummy didn't like it that much.

Man, it's been a LONG time since I've seen this, because I forgot how long the pre-invasion introductions and training go for. I saw this in the theater at age 13, with my parents. We all 3 didn't expect...certain parts. I remember the car ride home from the theater being quiet for a moment, and then my dad, much to my mom's delight, recognizing how embarrassed I was to be next to them during certain scenes, broke the silence with: "You know, I sadly don't recall there being any co-ed showers when I was in the service..."

I loved watching Starship Troopers growing up and it seems all of us did as well but we're starting to get sloppy with the recommendations lol a cheesy 90's sci-fi movie is not their cup of tea.

I wanted to add onto this comment earlier but I got a surprise phone call, anywho, even though I didnt vote for this movie in particular, it was fun revisiting it through the eyes of Jimmy and Marcus. A fun reaction regardless of the fact that it wasn't well received. I haven't watched Mortal kombat yet but I hope it lives up to the hype!

People tend to recommend what they like without really thinking about what the people reacting like.

Starship Troopers is quite a long way down my list of recommendations, but I supported it because it's great nostalgic fun to share. I consider it a huge step up from Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. When that won, I woke up to the reality that the only things that will get voted in have a certain "nature" to them and will just hope for the occasional dealer's choice to pick the real impressive movies.
