Oh... this ending makes me cry so hard every time I watch it. Seeing Reese give his life to save Finch and the the world from Samaritan is so tragic and yet beautiful too. And as much as it breaks my heart to see Reese die, it also is the ending I would expect for Reese, and the only right way for it to end. Finch told Reese in the Pilot that they would both probably wind up dead by the end. And while Finch survived, this line was the perfect foreshadowing for what comes of Reese. I absolutely love it!

I absolutely love this finale and I would watch a spin off show with Shaw and fusco all day long. Thanks for the reaction. This show is ridiculously slept on, but it’s in my top 5 all time shows. Just a great great show!!!

Harold is going back to his old/new life to honor John's sacrifice. 💖💖

it was a wild ride. Would agree with your season ranking although I'd maybe even put 1 higher than 5, it has some great early PoI episodes. Actually liked that Reese went out like a champ at the end, that he was on borrowed time was a theme of the show for a long time.

As for your thoughts on the DC episode... this ending with Shaw picking up the phone and with the Machine surviving is the reason for that episode being essential to this series. There was an idea for this show to get a spinoff with Shaw taking over as Reese's character and with Lionel staying on as the detective within the precinct, while Bear, Harper Rose, Logan Pierce, Joey Durban, Daniel Casey, and Jason Greenfield all becoming their team to help them protect the numbers. Sadly... this spinoff never took off, but I absolutely would have watched it if it had. Maybe one day... it still will. :) And yes... Finch survived in the end and returned to live the rest of his life with Grace, which is the perfect ending for him too. I think that he and Grace would be safe, with Samaritan destroyed and all of the threats who knew of him and Grace eliminated, which they all are as far as I can remember.

I wanna thank you for reacting to this show Jimmy! This is by far the best time I ever had watching a reaction. I remember suggesting the show while you were watching Lost and I was so sure that it'll become one of your favorite shows ever. So happy to see that I was right 💖 Would you consider watching a few tribute videos as well? you don't have to react to them if you don't want to - just watch them. Zurik 23M did a great one called "Person Of Interest || We Are Strong". My other three favorites are "(POI) John & Finch || About Today" "Person of Interest | Light Carries On" and "(John Reese) Heavy Heart" I'm pretty sure you'd appreciate them too 🥰 So sad it's over now, but I had a great time ❤❤

Whilst I too would snap up any spinoff, I am glad it was left to our imagination. The ending for this show was just too good to let any spinoff potentially derail it

Thanks for reacting to this show, I have enjoyed watching along with you

Shaw is wearing Root's jacket at the end. Love the details they put into the show.

Great reaction and commentary throughout this series its been a blast

I can't tell you how much I love that the moral of the show is delivered by two anonymous cops. It's ordinary people who have value. I guess that's why I don't mind that there are other teams preventing minor crimes. Has to be my favorite series finale ever. Every (living) character is done justice and the plotlines are resolved. Also, neat little motifs that get repeated in Westworld: "Is this now?" "You live as long as the last person who remembers you." So happy to have subbed/Patreon'd (?)

One of the best series finales ever IMO

Ninaofthe90s

actually Fusco DID kill Agent LeRoux and put him in the trunk. Which is why it's so funny that he said he hasn't changed that much. Also it's a call-back to the first episode of season 1 when Reese killed Detective Stills and put him in Fusco's trunk. 😂

Person of Interest pulled off The Dark Knight Rises ending better than The Dark Knight Rises did. Glad you enjoyed the finale. Endings are hard, but this is one of my favorite finales. A brilliant legacy episode for POI. It is heartbreaking but not morbid, acknowledging that a well-earned tragedy is the cost of good storytelling. The writing, the music and the performances are all on point here. Even the non-linear way the episode is put together really pays tribute to the true narrator of the show -- The Machine. It is almost like TM is having its life flash before its eyes in its last moments.

Can attest to the rewatch value of POI. One of the great things about the show is it doesn't take itself too seriously and become ponderous, a la Westworld, and remains a lot of good fun while delivering soliloquies about life and artificial intelligence. Personally, I think season 5 is better than season 4, because while I love some episodes of S4, and If-Then-Else is my favorite, the season doesn't work fully as a cohesive unit because it sort of derails and becomes directionless in the second half. I think season 3 is peak, and season 2 is second though. Love s1, but too procedural.

End of an era!! POI is my personal favourite show. GOT comes close but not with Season 8. The order of my fav seasons is 3 then 5, 4, 2,1. So many thoughts.. the recording was used to teach the copy which came from the satellite the value Finch taught the original machine. Like someone said, endings are hard, so many shows fail so miserably, Dexter, HIMYM, GOT, etc but there are some, who hit the mark so perfectly, that they became part of history, POI is that show for me. I am going to miss your reactions to this show... All the best.

Ninaofthe90s

By the way - Finch has not ALWAYS been your favorite character. Fusco was your favorite for the first 1 1/2 seasons! You even said back then that you love him even more than Finch 😉😊

Thanks for your reactions Jimmy, It's been great re-watching this amazing show alongside you!

CJ

Thanks Jimmy, really enjoyed your reactions.

Derek

The only show that I can just rewatch over and over again

Having re-watched this show about 4 times now, it never gets old. My favorite show of all-time, so far, with Lost a very close second. Haven't watched all of The Wire yet but am enjoying it. If you haven't seen Bosch on Amazon Prime, I highly recommend it. Got a lot of The Wire actors in it and Titus Welliver, the Man-in-Black from Lost, plays the title character Bosch. Best cop show on TV right now, imo.

Robert Kruger

Judging from your recommendations, I bet you'll like A Touch of Cloth. It's a British cop show with great humor.

Probably my favourite show if not top 2.
