Kojima Nanase is a member of the illustrious Kojima Clan, one of the Anaguma Clans that serve under the Uesugi Clan of Nikaido Island. Since the Island of Nikaido is far from the main islands of Wakoku, actually closer to Theria than it's motherland, the Uesugi and its vassals have a strong relationship with Theria and her kinlings. This relationship was solidified during the Baptism of Fire when the illustrious Seishinken and future head of Clan Uesugi, Uesugi Kenshin, led his fleet and bushi to the shores of Psiarnia. The unexpected influx of talent awoken from across the seas was enough to save the nation of dogs and cats. Clan Uesugi saved the Psiarnia parliament, protected it's people, and defended it's besieged capital, and assisted in the Psiararnian’s evacuation. Beginning Uesagi Kenshin’s legend in Theria.

Whereas Kenshin would go on to become one of the Nine Pillars, the legendary warriors who finally brought an end to the conflict, many outside of Theria know less about his vassal Kojima Hitomi, eldest daughter of his most loyal vassal Clan. Hitomi is well known in Lioncourt for her aggressive leadership style and the fearless way her bushi fought in battle. Entrusted to assist with Lioncourt's Defense of Pandorica, as its supply of Clarion Ore was key to the Furkin Alliance’s survival. A task that made all the more difficult given the enemies' use of dragon and wyvern riders.

With the help of the roc riders, Pandorican military, members of Lioncourt’s Raven Guard and several young Courtian Rangers leading their forces, Hitomi and her bushi managed to feld three dragons and stymie the assault on Pandorica. Though plans were made to act the small kingdom in greater force, these plans were dashed when the war came to an end and the furkin had survived victorious.

Many a hero was named that day and honored by the furkin Kingdoms. Kojima Hitomi was honored in Pandorica with noble titles and a great house of her own, as well as lands by the Ithica Aeon, the Red Queen of Pandorica. Thus the Pandorican Branch of Clan Kojima was created.

Though autonomous from the main house in Naikido the Kojima of Pandorica still pay dues and hold to their traditions and loyalties. Often, the head of House Kojima is selected by the main branch family. The heirs make the grueling trip back to Naikido for training and education, before returning to Theria. One such heir is Kojima Nanase.

Shunned, mistreated, and disrespected for being born a hermaphrodite. Many believed the young badger would not be welcomed anywhere due to her fathers mistreatment. Even going as far as disallowing his daughter to travel to their homeland for education, learn their ancient sword style, or even carry the family name. A pariah, Nanase lived a life unimaginable until a series of misadventures and friendships landed her the favor of Prince Oni Aeon, the current crown prince.

With Seiji Sayuri the Prince’s trusted hand as a best friend, years of adventuring experience, and the favor of the Pandorican Prince, Clan Kojima was forced to extend Nanase her birthright.

Though she will not inherit, nor will she ever have her family's approval, her relationships have earned her the status in the Pandorican court as an honorable ambassador of her family. The wishes of the crown now flow through her and down back to her clan. A fortuitous outcome for one with such unbearable beginnings. Thus are the benefits of having the favor of the Red Prince.
