Yo, so as I'm sure most of you know by now, patreon is rolling out an annoying new feature that's supposed to make stuff better for creators but in practice kind of makes stuff worse. Among other things, it's rendered $1 pledges a lot less worthwhile, since last I heard 35 cents were being taken off every pledge.

Because of this, a lot of people are boycotting patreon, and a lot of people with $1 pledges are deleting their pledges. I just wanted to pop in to say if you're considering doing so, please, by all means, go for it.

This new policy is annoying to us, but it's debilitating to the creators who rely on patreon for their income, especially the ones who've cultivated a large fanbase with what amounts to a tip jar where most of their pledges are $1. But the more people who vocally object to this, and the more people who delete their pledges to hit patreon in their wallets, the more likely it'll be that patreon rolls back the feature.

It's a bit of a gamble - again, a lot of people rely on patreon for their income, and boycotting their patreons could hurt them in the short run - but if you want to delete a pledge and send a message to Patreon, deleting a pledge to us is a pretty safe way to go. We can take a temporary financial hit if doing so means a victory for the forces of justice. :)

Just try to keep up in the loop as you hear things. This change is going to be a big deal for some folks, even if it doesn't break you guys. I'll support whatever long-term decisions you make.

Yeah, I don't have much to give but pleas please please tell me when $1 pledges will be ok again. I'll withhold mine for now but I really want to support you guys!

Thanks - we went ahead and cancelled, with appropriate apologies. On a related note, is there any good way to commission art directly? It's something we're looking at for any Patreon we're had to cancel - looking for other ways to support our favourite creators.

OSP

Yeah, if you want to commission us for stuff you can email us (overlysarcasticproductions@gmail.com) so we can hash out details Also, if you wanna just dump money on us, you could buy some of our threadless merch - they're v good about creator earnings and as a bonus you get shirts and stuff -R

Can I send you a check (this is a piece of paper than can deposited into a bank that is similar to cash) or paypal you directly?
