I think the importance of Rin in Obito's life is often understated, but Obito was very much like Naruto growing up. He wasn't as much of a troublemaker for attention, but because he had no (alive) parents and not much talent for an Uchiha, he was basically a loner/outcast who would help elderly folks in his spare time. Rin was really the first person to see and acknowledge Obito, so I liken her importance in his life to be what Iruka is to Naruto, for instance (just elevated because he also had romantic feelings for her) Also, idk if you've seen the ED yet, but you can totally watch it! There are no spoilers in it
