WOW! What a popcorn flick, I'll take it! This had some familiar and fun people in it and way more bloody than I thought it would be.  I was very entertained and jumpy and had to keep reminding myself that this place didn't actually exist.

[Full Reaction] Jurassic World (2015)

Comments

David Freese

Thanks Cassie. Appreciate all the work. You take a couple of days off and your right back at it. Thank you for everything and it's a joy to be a Patreon for you.

Sahitya

If this park was real and this movie happened, and if they fix the place back up, would you still go? I think I would

Mark Harrell

Damn it. Whyd you do that. Just getting ready for bed 1230am to go to work in the morning. Now i have to watch it now. Seriously though thanks. Don't you have a The Sting reaction coming soon too?

Alex Villarreal

These new movies are fun. And yeah, that serotonin kicks in when that original Jurassic Park music cue kicks in. Awesome.

Robin T

"Whenever it came out, you know, 15 years ago" Yup. 15 years. Sounds totally right to me, let's go with that. (next summer will make 30 years 😭)

David RedEagle

This is gonna be fun, I adore Chris Pratt. Just such a hilarious and wholesome human being. Oh and congrats on 200k Cass!

Shawn Kildal

What I remember most about seeing the original Jurassic Park in the theaters, besides loving it, was that it was by far and away the LOUDEST movie I've ever heard. Anyone else remember that? That John Williams theme, while being awesome, was set to full blast.

MattN

"Get to the choppa!" I loved this reaction because it's a fun movie and Cassie understands that movies are movies. But, the best part of watching Cassie from the beginning is seeing her start to pick up why I think it's important to watch movies... because they become part of the cultural zeitgeist... it becomes part of who we are. So, my journey with Cassie started with her completely naïve to how these movies a lot of us grew up with impacted not just us but the world we live in. Then, she started picking up stuff she's heard her entire life but never knew where it came from... "Luke, I am your fatheeeerrrr". And now, not only does she know these movie moments but she *uses* them in other things! She has gone full circle and to me, this is my favorite part of this Patreon. Seeing Cassie get to the point where she is joking about other things (instinctively) from movies that helped lay the foundation of how we think about certain things is really cool in my opinion. And it makes me very thankful that I am able to be a small part of that journey. Great reaction Cassie. As always, I am always looking for to the next.

G

The Jurassic Park franchise is fun.

Matt

Godzilla 1998, King Kong 2005 would be fun to see a reaction as well as the new ones

Dooly

Who in their right mind would recommend Godzilla 98? If you’re starting with Godzilla, start with the original Gojira or Shin Godzilla.

Shawn Kildal

Claire is portrayed by Bryce Dallas Howard, the daughter of Ron Howard who was Opie in the Andy Griffith show, Ritchie in Happy Days and the director in such films as Apollo 13 and Far and Away. Fun fact, her middle name was given to her because she was conceived in Dallas, Texas

G

She should start with Godzilla (1954) and/or Godzilla, King of the Monsters (1956).

Mark M

I only found this available for streaming in Canada in French. You need a subscription to Club Illico.

Joe Mallard

Fun fact, the T-rex in this was the same one as in the first movie.

Steven Ashford

Congratulations again on 200k. I’m so excited for you. 15 years ago😂😂. According to my reaction math you weren’t even 4 years old when the original was released. Don’t think you would’ve been going to theaters to watch that one.

Uncle 'Traveling' Matt

"You're a hero, sir." Wow, that was a lot of fun. Glad you enjoyed it so much. There were SO MANY great quotes in this one! :)

Christopher Smith

The creepy guy Cassie is thinking of is Wilson Fisk aka Kingpen from "Daredevil" w/ Charlie Cox. Michael Clark Duncan was Kingpen from the "Daredevil" w/ Ben Affleck. (currently at 1:33, still watching. in case she figures it out before end.)

Rippan

The T-rex is the same from the original movie 1993, called "Rexy" by the fans. She's getting old for an dinosaur. The scene at the end of her is a "The Queen of Isla Nublar is back" moment. A small detail in this one is when Rexy destroys the Spinosaurus skeleton, a nod back to Jurassic Park 3 as many fans didn't like the way that one just killed a Rex easy. Rexy also have the scars on her neck from the fight vs the raptors in Jurassic Park :) After watching Fallen Kingdom (the next movie) I recommend watching Battle at Big Rock, a 10 ish minutes short movie of what happens after (remember to watch the whole clip, with the credits!) and then of course, the Prologue trailer for Dominion they released a few months ago. Both are available on the Jurassic World youtube page That should catch you up for Dominion

Dustin Nelson

Hope we get Fallen Kingdom pretty soon, I saw the original Jurassic Park at a drive-in on opening weekend, was maybe 5 or 6. Fallen Kingdom is the only one in the series I haven't seen in a theater (too busy) and I'm so hyped for the new one

Greg S.

Not available on any streaming service here in the US. Just rental and purchase. I had to pull out my Blu-ray to watch along.

Daniel Fuchs

Show you the sequel: Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom

Cassie Tremblay

hahha i love this question so much. I would not because im the biggest scaredy cat of everything but i think they would still have lines and ppl paying millions of dollars to go even after this haha

Cassie Tremblay

Matt i just screenshotted this comment because you summed up so eloquently what i have been trying to vocalize has been such a fun part of the channel. I'm in the club now :)

Cassie Tremblay

my parents like to make jokes that i was "made in japan", produced in the USA and imported to Canada :) haha

Cassie Tremblay

hahaha you are right, my parents wouldn't let me watch power rangers so this prob wouldn't have flown

Cassie Tremblay

I love when new movies do stuff like that and include small details from the OG! Ok thanks for the tip I will do that!

Rippan

and you thought this one was a bit jumpy... the next one has J.A Bayona as the director, famous for his scary movies ;). The first 5-10 minutes of Fallen Kingdom is one of the best in the whole series.

Mark M

no worries, i'll get around to it. I'm sure I'll rent it eventually.

Jason Dolan

29 years ago......

William Bryan

As awesome as the Jurassic series is the Mosasaur is not that damn big. Not even close. They never got any bigger than about 45 feet. Megalodon was 60 feet and would've eaten that thing for breakfast

Shawn Kildal

Ron Howard said he thought Dallas sounded better than Volvo (the car). He also did this to his other kids and named them after the hotels or street names. Kind of weird to me

Armchair Wizard

True, but the worst example of this is Velociraptor. Velociraptor is only like 2 or 3 feet tall, and like 4-6 feet long. They're literally like the size of a turkey. They drastically increased its size to make it scarier on film. In actuality, the dinosaur Deinonychus is more around the size of Velociraptor.

Stick Figure Studios

This movie made me realize that there's been an element missing from this series since JURASSIC PARK came out 29 years ago (Oh, man!). Something that helped make the first one more interesting to me in a way that its two sequels were not: the amusement park setting. In Spielberg's original (and the Michael Crichton book upon which it's based) it was a preview of an as yet unopened theme park. In the new one, it is a full-blown functioning "Dino-land," a popular vacation destination (which has apparently been open for several years) with rides, attractions, gift shops and product placement. I think this is one of the reasons I also like the sci-fi thriller WESTWORLD (the movie -- directed, incidentally, by Crichton -- more than the show) so much. There is just something about mankind not only unethically playing God with science, but, as Jeff Goldblum's character Ian Malcolm says in the '93 film, "patenting it, packaging it and slapping it on a lunchbox" -- and in this film making it do tricks -- for the amusement of others that makes the eventual going belly up of it all very satisfying. And, boy, does it go belly up. After a fairly slow (and overly talky) first act, JURASSIC WORLD goes into a string of action sequences, each one more spectacular than the last, featuring glorious and expensive CGI dinosaurs fighting, chasing, destroying things, killing each other and eating people. It's nothing we haven't seen before and although the filmmaking doesn't display nearly the level of craftmanship Spielberg himself does, it's competent enough to be exciting, suspenseful and, at times, humorous. The movie also manages to evoke quite a bit of shameless nostalgia associated with the original film: both explicitly (revisiting the original locations, quoting John Williams' themes in the score, referencing the events of the first film in the dialogue and even getting B.D. Wong to reprise his tiny role as a genetic scientist) and implicitly (following the beats/scenarios of the original: kids in a vehicle under attack, our protagonists finding a sick/injured dinosaur, the T. Rex functioning as Deus ex Machina, etc) and damned if it didn't work on me. Don't get me wrong. JURASSIC WORLD has a lot of problems. The character stuff is tedious and much has already been said about the film's gender politics, so I won't go into it here, but it does provide the requisite amount of fun for a typical summer E-ticket ride. It also manages to sidestep much of the criticism one can direct at it by being at least somewhat self-aware. While it offers bigger, scarier dinosaurs for moviegoing audiences, it is also a cautionary tale against the increasing size, scope and budget of summer tentpole movies: when the park feeds a great white shark to a giant Mosasaur, you just know that there is some ironic commentary on how far summer blockbusters have come since JAWS first opened in '75... almost 50 years ago (Oh, man!).

Stick Figure Studios

I always feel like they had an "out" with any inaccuracies by simply saying that these particular dinosaurs were genetically bred to be however they were in the film.

Grinznmore

When your back is against the wall and you're faced to face with an overwhelming force; grab and chuck a pressurized tank. A Spielberg buffet serving up Jaws, tasty tourist, Indiana Jones, greedy villains and kids who can light wet matches Fun flick#Were going to need a bigger wall

Sahitya

I remember seeing this back when it came out and I was so pumped, i saw it thought it was ok at best. I was upset it wasnt a little more grounded and contemplative like the first one. lol they went totally the opposite direction with this. Ill take animatronics any day over CGI. But Seeing it with you this time after a few years i have to say, apart from anthropomorphizing the dinasoars a bit too much, its no Jurassic Park (1993) but as an adventure film on its own its well paced and quite thrilling. The sequel is utterly rediculous tho

Pickupthepieces76

Great reaction. Jurrasic Park franchise movies are the ultimate popcorn movies. The OG was a perfect storm. Groundbraking cgi visuals, Spielberg at his best, John Williams music, first time seeing these animals so life like on screen, we weren't used to this quality so we were very impressed. I was mid teens so the perfect age. One of my favourite movies. So I am very much watching this with nostalgic glasses on, but thought this was a very good 'reboot'. None of these movies are perfect, but they are just so much fun. Looking forward to the next!

Canadianant

So does this mean Cassie has/is watching daredevil? To me it was one of the best things marvel has put out. Great acting by all parties including Vincent d onofrio

Celeste McAllister

Ron Howard and some friends started a nostalgia craze for the 50's in "American Graffiti" yet the film was set in the summer of 1962,released in 1974..

Celeste McAllister

Let's spend the weekend on Isla Nublar cozy up with the friendly dinosaurs, what could possibly go wrong? :) I'm recommending getting into the Star Trek universe when the times right..

Tim Mclouth

I loved that show the best Marvel show on Netflix. Way better then Iron Fist.

David Freese

She's been watching Daredevil on her own since Matt Murdock made appearance in Spider-Man.

David Freese

That the good thing bout hard copies, you can always pull them out at a moments notice.

Mark M

It’s really expensive to own a hard copy of every movie though.

Celeste McAllister

Start from the original series I'm thinking, that's for Cassie to decide..

Mike Lemon

For the love of Pete, please no. Enough with the series for a while. Star Wars, Loki, Wandavision, Rocky, Jurassic Park, MCU, etc. How about catching up with the thousand other movies a little before a, what, 15 movie and 10 show franchise.

Celeste McAllister

She has a collection of some of the best movies ever,we've been sending them to Cassie, they need to get voted on and must bring in the views, she's running a business after all..

Robin T

She's been very good about mixing up the content I think, even amongst all these ongoing franchises we're getting some heist movies and Anatomy of a Murder just this week alone, and basically every week has had some stand-alone vintage picks. Besides, aside from the MCU pretty much all the franchises she's been doing are just about wrapped up. Makes sense to plan out the next one.

brooke atkins

Please god no Star Trek!!! Way to many good movies for her to watch to get wrapped up in that for months. To each his own for people who like it but I find Star Trek and the whole marvel world incredibly boring. I can’t wait for her to be done with Star Wars and the marvel universe and move on to actual good movies. I know I’m gonna get bashed for this but remember people it’s just an opinion. You allowed to like whatever you like.

Jason Chirevas

How many Star Trek movies have you seen? How many Marvel movies have you seen? How many Star Wars movies have you seen? Always interested to learn the extent of the experience on which these haughty, wholesale dismissals are based.

Patrick Flanagan

STAR TREK II, III, and IV are a good trilogy that I think would be mostly accessible to newcomers. (Maybe watch "Space Seed" first.) THE MOTION PICTURE can be a slog for newcomers and V is a bit rough. The NEXT GEN movies have their moments but they're not as good. The three movies directed/produced by J.J. Abrams are absolute garbage.

Jason Chirevas

Just to counter Patrick’s last assessment a bit, I’ve been a Star Trek TOS fan for most of my 47 years here on Earth. The 2009 STAR TREK is a terrific, reverential reboot/invitation to new viewers to the essence of what the TOS characters and sensibility are about that bends over backward to fit into existing continuity. The third movie in the series, STAR TREK BEYOND, directed not by Abrams but Justin Lin, is a very good “expanded-episode” adventure with some great character moments and poignancy. The second movie in the series, STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS, is, in fact, absolute garbage.

Stick Figure Studios

If Star Trek bores you, then you certainly don't have to watch her videos should Cassie react to them. For the rest of us, though, who don't find them at all boring, but rather intelligent, innovative, exciting, humorous and perhaps even a little bit inspirational, let us have the chance to enjoy Cassie being introduced to this wonderful cultural phenomenon. Please, don't make Cassie and everyone else suffer because of your own personal dislike of something fine.

brooke atkins

It is her choice if she reacts to them and I totally respect that. It is her channel after all. And yes I will skip those reactions the same way I have skipped other reactions I wasn’t interested in. As I stated above this is just my personal opinion and you don’t have to like it or agree with it. That’s ok too. Geez relax not trying to start ww3 here lol 🤦‍♀️

My_Cousin_Mose

I'm with you Brooke, and yeah people REALLY do not like it when you don't like the mcu or all this new disney crap. Like you said it's Cassie's channel and like you I usually just quietly skip those reactions. Occasionally I'll politely voice my disappointment but far more often I voice my excitement. It's probably true that those franchises bring in the views and I can totally respect that. They can only pump em out so quick though so hopefully we'll be through em soon.

My_Cousin_Mose

@Stick Figures Look man its ok if people voice their displeasure at the prospect of a reaction just like people are all the time gushing over movies saying "Cassie I know you'll love this" and such. Cassie is an adult who's seen a fair few movies at this point and I think she can make up her own mind about what she watches. You say Cassie and the rest of us will suffer from being denied this reaction? Well some people think that about other stuff and wanna get to those reactions. Personally I have no opinion on Star Trek, Ive never seen it. There's a youtuber I really like and respect though that is always talking about how amazing The Next Generation is. And I know tons of people love Star Trek (not the new stuff), so its probably a solid reaction. But if people don't like it, thats ok if we wanna voice it. Cassie will see the conversation and can judge if lots of people are excited for something or not, and she can also read the back of the dvd herself and see whether or not she wants to watch.

William Russell

Jason Chirevas congratulations on having been appointed head of the movie police. Never knew I had to pass an examine to be allowed to comment. I have seen enough of all 3 franchises to know that they are of zero/minimal interest to me. If Cassie watches a one off movie that isn't for you that is it done, if she watches Star Trek that is what? 12 viewing slots blown away if its not for you. How many MCU viewing slots already and how many still to com. Personally I would want Cassie to watch every episode of the Sopranos, the West Wing, the Americans, Curb..., etc. but I ain't on here pushing for it. Every one of the franchises that is embarked on limits the breadth of movies that we get to see Cassie's (fantastic) reactions to. Yours haughtily ...

JC762

I am kinda so-so on star trek in general. I probably at some point saw most of TNG and the movies but they were always just something to see and move on from. Nothing against most of them but they are not timeless classics, only my opinion of course. The fist J.J. Abrams Star Trek movie reboot I thought it was very good for the most part. A few of the actors did an amazing job matching the iconic characters......

Mike Lemon

@Mose That YouTuber "that is always talking about how amazing The Next Generation is" didn't recently say he is done with Star Trek, did he? (i.e. Is it Mike Stoklasa, or, perhaps, Rich Evans?) edit-typo

My_Cousin_Mose

@ Mike nope Tim Pool. He does political and cultural commentary but loves the show so he references it a lot.

Sean Novack

Huge Star Trek fan here! Have been for more than 40 years, going back to when my father and I would watch old Original re-runs in the late 70's together on the couch. When The Next Generation came out in the 80's we gave it a chance, and while it only started out okay it grew into one of the best ensemble shows on television. In my opinion Deep Space 9 was okay, but I never got in to Voyager. I actually liked Enterprise and felt it was really finding its stride when it was cancelled. I am not a fan of Discovery or Picard, but Strange New Worlds has really impressed me from the start. I'd watch the Top 10 Original Series Episodes before starting the films The Motion Picture - I really like the Director's Cut The Wrath of Khan - Still the best of the bunch The Search for Spock - Necessary, and not terrible The Voyage Home - Is probably important and hasn't aged poorly The Final Frontier - Can be skipped The Undiscovered Country - Probably my 2nd Favorite of the original cast Generations - The baton is passed After that, it's really up to the person watching. They'll have a lot better feel for where they want to go and don't need my opinions.

Mike Lemon

@Mose I didn't know Tim was a fan. It's been a while since I watched his show.

Beau Mont

Star Trek begins and end with William Shatner, everything that came after is completely different and should not be referred to as Star Trek anything.

My_Cousin_Mose

@mike yeah with all the drama going on with Disney and such he's been mentioning it a lot lately.

Anthony Perez

Ok...I saw Jurassic World a while ago but it was MUCH better watching it with Cassie. And you KNOW it was an exciting movie if it made Cassie yell out "back the F UP!" even if it was only the letter F it made me clutch my pearls.

Tara

@MattN Perfectly said!! I also heard Cassie say “I’ve got a bad feeling about this” and “I think you’re gonna need a bigger gun”

Tara

Cassie, the original was so magical because nobody had seen the dinosaurs yet. When the trailers came out, they played the now iconic John Williams theme music who by the way is also responsible for Star Wars, Jaws, ET, Indiana Jones and Harry Potter to name a few, but I digress, the point was that all we saw were the characters with the music. They were smart, that way we HAD to buy a ticket to the movie to see what the dinosaurs looked like. 👀 Imagine being in a theater and seeing the dinosaurs for the first time along with Dr. Grant and Ellie, that moment of awe is something that cannot be duplicated and I have to say that the visuals from 30 years ago were pretty fantastic. So many people went to see Jurassic Park to see the dinosaurs 🦕

Mike LL

Very well said. I always liked that aspect of wonder better than the life threatening danger aspect of that movie and all the sequels. If only they could make us feel that again.

Rick Williams

I really liked this movie when I saw it in the theater. Watching it again with Cassie's reaction was great. She is a mother. She loves all kids and really hates to see them in danger. Great reaction.
