Apologies in advance for the strong language guys! 😰

We are currently anchored near the airport of Aruba. It's been a quiet morning and we were about to scoot over to Oranjestad.

But all that changed in the blink of an eye!

Just after noon, a huge 60-foot catamaran entered the lagoon searching for a spot to drop anchor. We watched them as they maneuvered past CUBA and we waved each other a friendly Hello.

For a moment it looked like they were going to drop their hook behind our stern.

But just as I had gone downstairs to grab a few things, I heard a voice shout: "Guys, I cannot stop!! I cannot stop!" Then I heard Enrique shout my name followed by a desperate "NO, NO, NOOO!"

Before I could grasp the extent of what was happening, I was tossed onto our galley, accompanied by an awful loud crunching sound! 😨

As I ran back outside, all I could see was this immense catamaran lodged into CUBA's hull.

Again, we are very sorry about the strong language but at this point, we didn't know if  CUBA is taking on water and this would turn into an emergency.

The damage has been severe, including structural damage to one of our bulkheads - but we are still floating. And luckily, no one was injured!

We are still very shaken by today's events and we don't know what will happen to our plans.

Was there a field sobriety test given to the captain of that vessel ?

Omg. That is terrifying. I hope the owner and operator are helping you. It is so obviously the total fault of that vessel. It would be reprehensible for them not to give immediate assistance to repair Cuba. How are things going?
