Potential Disruptions (Patreon)

Some of you may be aware that Patreon has a new mandate requiring those of us who create 18+ content to provide proof of age and identity in the form of a current photograph along with a copy of state-approved picture-ID.

This requirement activated for me yesterday and although I disagree with this intrusive mandate, I had already decided that I would comply with it. However, the pop-up script that ostensibly would guide me through this process, instead blocked all access to my account as the "Continue" button did nothing at all. The only things I had access to were the various hyperlinks with explanations of this policy. I followed one of those and managed to create a help-ticket on the matter, which Patreon has not even bothered to acknowledge receipt of, much less done anything to resolve the issue.

Since I inexplicably seem to have access today, I will be attempting to comply with this new mandate before making an attempt to upload this weekend's post - the last for May. I have no idea how long it may take to negotiate this absurdity and given the ineptitude inherent in a script that cannot even get past step #2 and the corporate disinterest in even acknowledging the problem, I have little hope of success any time soon.

I would love to be wrong about how difficult it will be to get this odious task accomplished and whether or not it will even 'stick' (not just glitch out and deny me access anyway). We shall see. But in the meantime, you will all at least know the reason why I am unable to respond or post - or if my account is suddenly terminated. I will fight to maintain this account and to continue to be able to post content - but I have zero confidence right now.
