I just received a notice that Patreon will be forcing all creators to switch to subscription billing by November. Subscription billing is charged each month on the day you signed up rather than at the beginning of each month as I currently have it set up.

This should have no effect on existing paid members unless you cancel your subscription and then sign up again at some future point. It will affect all new members.

One thing that I like about this billing method is that it avoids the double-charge that occurs when a new patron signs up at the end of the month and then is immediately charged again on the first.

On the other hand, the reason that I have not switched to subscription billing prior to now is that many members find it very confusing to be charged for different Patreon subscriptions at all days of the month - if they are subscribed to a number of creators as many are.

This change is being required of Patreon by the Apple iOS Store in order for Patreon to be able to continue to be allowed to provide their Patreon app for iOS users.

My opinion on whether this is a good thing or not is irrelevant since I have no choice in the matter.

I hope that this change in billing method does not create too much of an inconvenience for any of you - I suppose it is what it is.

Thank all of you for your continuing support - I appreciate each of you!

I say, do not worry. Most of the subscriptions I have here have already been changed to this method months ago. But I know you put that off, I 'member. But it took getting used to seeing all these charges spreading throughout the month, so there is that.

Thank you so much for your perspective on this! I have been *very* worried about potential fallout from those who might not like it.
