For me, it's not like you need to keep your expectations low. I think you can have the expectations you have naturally. it's just when certain fans start hyping up certain arc's I personally would like you to keep expectations low, or more like don't let yourself get hyped by the fans. The best experience with Gintama is when you go in blind, not expecting much, and you get pleasantly surprised. As you watch more Gintama, your expectations will slowly get higher, but you will still be surprised because (ideally) you will have no idea when an arc is coming, or what type of arc it is. Like suddenly you are hit with something serious, or you spend the whole time (hopefully) laughing/enjoying the characters/plot being absolutely crazy lol That is just my opinion tho

Basically it's gorilla sensei asking the anime stuff, how could kagura running around so freely under those sunny weather? 😂 One of the main reason I love your reaction is that you appreciate the small/cute interaction between the cast. ginsan, hijikata, kondo (even sougo) helping shinpachi in this arc is so 🔥 Some people only like the shonen type arc (that's what they're hyping about). Yes those are great but little arcs with so much heart is what makes Gintama stand out for me too.

Personally, I would not enjoy Gintama as much without these non-shonen arcs. The best parts of Gintama INCLUDE these episodes where not much happens except for characters doing clown shit
