For today's Archives post, you'll be pleased to find Samus from Metroid, stripped down completely nude!

This wouldn't be the first time this version of Samus has appeared in the Archives, and it won't be the last, since this was a 2020 commission that had multiple variants. But whereas last time she was wearing underwear (albeit very revealing underwear), she's now wearing nothing! I hope you like booty and muscles, because you're getting both.

ARTIST NOTES

This is actually a very special piece to me -- not the nude version specifically, but this whole commission (whose main version that I repost the most often is a bunny suit) because it felt like the moment where my style finally "clicked." This drawing is from late 2020, and it's this piece, along with Zero Suit Zelda (which were both drawn in the same window of time for the same commissioner, you know who you are hehe) where something just changed and I achieved this weird clarity about how I wanted to draw my characters from that point on.

It's this piece onward that I consider my portfolio to be "canon jackary" -- that is, the point where I finally started creating art that would age well enough to be perpetually reposted in the future. I hesitate to call myself a pro by any means, but it's basically the point where my art stopped feeling amateur. 2020 is where this "discovery" took place, and 2021-2022 is where my following blew up and I grew from a small artist to a "big artist," at least in terms of strictly follower count -- I can only imagine that most people had the same conclusions as me.

Not every piece from late 2020 onward is a certified banger, but I feel like I had finally reached the point where I was patching up my biggest weakness (faces) and I had the artistic eye to not allow myself to finish a drawing until it passed my personal standards of quality assurance... in other words, having an appealing face that doesn't look drawn by an amateur, LOL

It's funny because I'm starting to see more flaws than ever when I look back at my art from this period (I can see a few in this piece) but this is definitely the point where those flaws weren't significant enough to derail the drawing.

Anyway! Love this picture. The base bunny version is one of my most popular drawings ever! I hope you like this version too.

You have a great understanding of bodies, and this piece is a departure for you in that she's a bit more shredded. Which is fucking amazing. One of my favorites.

Spike Jonez

Still as good today!
