I don’t think my jaw ever left the floor this episode. This was a straight up spectacle to the highest degree. This is how you adapt and enhance the source material, one of the best episodes I’ve seen this year in both anime and live action.

The correct translations are Mahoraga, instead of Makora. Sukuna's technique is Cleave and Dismantle and his domain is Malevolent Shrine. Crunchy Rolls translations were hilarious though.

I know that some fans were not pleased by the opening theme playing during Yuuji’s breakdown. But really liked. The lyrics of SpecialZ practically glorifying Sukuna while playing over Yuuji’s completely breakdown feels so much more fitting that everyone is saying it is.

Yeah, I thought if fit well, tbh. Like, if that song played and it wasn't already the opening theme, it might have felt a little different. But part of why I liked it being there is because it's the opening song for this arc.

Makora is fine. The VA actually does say it, and it's the actual Japanese name. Mahoraga is the original Sanskrit name.

If it wasn’t clear, this sacrificial summoning of makora is megumi’s "trump card" that he’d been almost using throughout the series. He was about to use it: - at the end of episode 1 (against sukuna), - in episode 5 (also against sukuna, which is why sukuna said that makora could’ve beaten him if it was the sukuna from back then) - [probably] in episode 19 (against hanami) - in episode 23 (against the special grade curse before he decided to try his domain expansion) - And in the previous episode (against Toji, after he failed to stab him, right before toji killed himself.) In each of those moments, you’ll notice megumi change his stance to a similar one to this episode and/or start the same chant he did in this episode ("Eight-handled sword, ring-ring…")

But one common misconception is that megumi was about to use it against todo in episode 8 when they first met. But there is nothing that actually suggests it. Plus I don’t think megumi would go from "not fighting back" in megumi’s own words, to killings himself and todo for no reason. But I’m pretty sure it’s mostly a meme. It’s just that some people genuinely believe it

When sukuna referred to makora using positive energy, it wasn’t to heal, it was for purely for attacking. IIRC cursed spirits don’t use reverse cursed technique to heal. Because they’re made of cursed energy, they can just make up what they’ve lost. But makora seems a little different because adapting and changing is its entire ability

It’s not technically wrong. It fits the common theme with the way that sukuna talks and even the design of his domain expansion. They even used kitchen knives to demonstrate how the attacks work

Apparently some of the animators were saying this episode is only like 30% done. I guess they said they had a lot of cleaning up to do. Unfortunately Mappa has been mistreating them and not giving them enough time. JJK might be going on hiatus soon

Doubtful, Toho already gave them a break after episode 5 they are not getting another one. Sadly Mappa's shitty working conditions is very likely gonna ruin a potential all time production season (Mob Psycho S3/OPM S1) But considering the animators have been pulling miracles literally since the beginning of Shibuya, I won't doubt they can pull off a couple more to end the season strong.

Imo interpreting that as megumi going from not fighting back at all to killing himself and another Jujutsu sorcerer for no reason whatsoever makes megumi’s character much worse. And considering that in every other occasion we could see him change his stance to one similar to the mahoraga/makora one and/or say the chant, I find it hard to believe that he would’ve done that there

Oh for sure. They did a great job. I just feel bad for them. The one translation I read the guy apparently said something like "I really appreciate the positive reactions to our work, I just wish I could have shown you guys my 100%" paraphrasing here.

The way the rituals work are like pokemon battles in a way megumi has to defeat the shikigami himself to gain control over them so the ones megumi can use he has already defeated no ten shadows user has been able to defeat mahoraga to control it every pther one is thought to just use it as megumi uses it which is summon it as like a kamikaze type ability for himself and the person they drag along in it.
