Also they mentioned Daeron in episode 2* of this season but yea he's Alicent's youngest, her third son. They sent him to ward(foster) at Oldtown, the seat of House Hightower. Not Criston's, just the last child Alicent had with Viserys. They also slightly hinted at Rhaenyra being inclined towards women as well as men in Season 1. Her relationship with Alicent when they were young was very close and physically affectionate, young Rhaenyra even saying she just wanted to spend the rest of her life flying on dragonback with Alicent travelling the world and eating cake. Not meant to be definitive by any means, but hinting at it.

I get that Rhaenyra doesnt like the idea they believe Daemon is more reliable than her....but the fact is that having Daemon and Caraxes by her side definitely would help things. Both of them are weak by themselves. Daemon, unchecked and aggressive, making reckless moves that cost him the support of many. Rhaenyra, overcautious and inexperienced in war, unable to make calculated moves to strengthen her position. Both could cover for each other's weaknesses but divided, they are weak.
