Traveler! In Gaze of the Solemn Sire, a level-4 Shadowdark adventure, the characters find themselves at a crossroads with no clear path to advance in their overarching campaign. They require a powerful weapon, the means to reach a faraway location, or a piece of crucial information. They learn of an elusive entity, an obscure deity that is said to have aided those in need in the past. Those related to this being all managed incredible exploits that changed the world's fate.

The characters journey to a dungeon in the rocky crags. Within, they find an effigy of the Solemn Sire. This entity was once worshiped by humankind for its great powers. However, the Solemn Sire is not a moral authority. It aids those destined for deeds that change the world, whether those actions are benevolent or cursed, the deity does not care. It was shunned and forgotten by most cultures. The place is filled with deadly traps and merciless guardians. Are the characters strong enough to earn the favor and achieve greatness under the gaze of the Solemn Sire?

This adventure has been designed for Shadowdark RPG through their 3rd party license. The system is meant to be accessible to OSR players and modern players alike. Adapting the material to 5e or other systems should not be difficult.
