Traveler! In Call of the Shoggoth, a level-6 Shadowdark adventure, a mental city-wide mental affliction causes some people to become inescapably drawn to a cavern in the countryside that many prospectors have tried to exploit unsuccessfully in the past. The people are attracted by a mysterious gem that spells strange incantations that poison their minds and makes them susceptible to being manipulated. A terrible entity is behind the gemstone, the legendary shoggoth.

The characters must cleanse the cavern and then travel to Ord's temple. Therein, the fearsome abomination lies trapped by a soon-to-fail binding ritual. The characters must face adversity and confront the shoggoth as it breaks out of its bondage so that they can save the day. If the shoggoth breaks loose, it shall wreak havoc upon the region.

This Shadowdark adventure has the heroes save mind-deluded townsfolk, allows them to visit a legendary location of Ord's church, and pits them against a spawn from hell. The fabled shoggoth is a terrible opponent!

This adventure features a new dungeon map crafted especially for this quest!

This adventure has been designed for Shadowdark RPG through their 3rd party license. The system is meant to be accessible to OSR players and modern players alike. Adapting the material to 5e or other systems should not be difficult.
