Congratulations on finishing what we could consider the first season of Monogatari! The parallelism between Hanekawa and Araragi is so significant that part of what Araragi told her can also be applied to himself, similar to what he did with Karen in Nise. Some parallels include saving Shinobu, similar to Hanekawa with the cat, being "deceived" by the oddity and then depending on it or being joined to it, both oddities having the "Energy Drain" ability, and Hanekawa's similar way of rushing to aid a friend wherever they are, regardless of when and where, similar to Araragi in Bake. In the end, I believe Araragi lied to Oshino and himself about not loving Hanekawa; he chose to ignore and lie about his feelings because it seemed more convenient that way for everyone. Although in Bake, if Hanekawa had confessed her feelings to him, he probably would have accepted, because I think Araragi would have said yes to any girl who confessed to him at that time; Hanekawa's "mistake" was wanting to cook up a romance over low heat. Now that you've finished the first season, you should be familiar with what an "oddity" is, the characters and their problems, and you should also have a minimal idea of Araragi's character because, for now, having been the narrator of the entire first season, he has only left us crumbs of information about himself scattered among arcs, which could cause you to ignore or not take into account his problems, and that's exactly what he would like you to do.
