The gods of emain make up the zodiac of emain, as their deeds both good and bad, were immortalized in emain history for all time.

The hunter: Eigriez (ee-greez)[was female]

Eigriez was a tall, bipedal mortal being that was immortalized through heroic deeds to the people of Emain. Eigriez's origin was of a prehistoric scaled drake that was far larger than the females or males of her clan. For this she was ultimately shunned, however Eigriez refused to let prejudice get to her and she inevitably slew a great worm beast that had been terrorizing her village, eating children and adults for years. After this she was truly heroic. The acid of the worm beast burnt some of her scales and the towns people built her replacement scales of the finest metals. Humble to the core, she was grateful and spent her life seeking those whom needed protection or saving. She died of old age and her body was given a heros cremation, the remains being stored in a massive monument on one of the islands of Emain that stands to this day.

Kraken: Sorellus

An ancient beast of terrible power, he enjoyed the torture and chase of numerous women during the height of his power. Sorellus once pursued the Siren Venefic in her youth, but even his insatiable lust was quelled by how truly dark and disgusting she was within. Despite being a natural pair, in the end it was Sorellus himself that finally took his teeth to the neck of Venefic and ended a bloody tyranny she held over people for centuries. After the murder of his once-lover, Sorellus retreated to deep in the oceans of Emain and none have seen or heard from him since.

Siren: Venefic (ven-ee-feek) (latin: Venefica-witch, poisoner, sorceress)

Venefic was a beautiful woman with dual personalities. The siren is perhaps the least truthful of the entire Emain zodiac, in that she portrays herself as a well-mannered, elegant, alluring, compassionate and accepting woman. Her true physique is hidden under her mask. Venefic is twisted and gnarled, her flesh looks burnt and her body displays signs of abuse that she self inflicts. Once people see how ugly she is they often throw her away, as she as corrupt within as one could be and that corruption tainted her physical form.

Serpent: Anguis (latin: snake/hydra/dragon)

There's a fable from the city of Aqueos in which a snake is drinking from a river and it meets man. The man, thinking the small serpent is coming to attack and kill him with its venom throws a massive stone upon the unsuspecting snake, crushing its lithe and fragile body. It's said that as the snake lay on its back, staring with one eye to the stars, its tiny mind unable to comprehend the why or how of what had happened; that a god visited him. The being asked the crushed serpent in his own tongue, if he wanted the strength to protect himself, or if he wish to bleed and die like a lowly worm in the mud. Anguis, he would soon be called, said yes, and the being gave him a potion that restored vitality to the snakes crumbled body. Laying the small creature down in the grass it bid him farewell. Anguis was confused, he didn't feel any different, however on that day he'd been granted sentience and more. Over months the tiny, digit thin snake grew, and as he grew his scales turned from armor to plates, spines erupting from the crown of his head. He was soon so large that he was feared by the nearby townsfolk whom sent warriors to quash the creature. Anguis greeted them with years of venom that he'd held back, his bite so lethal none survived. Because of the failures of killing him it is said the town sent missionaries to bring truce with him. Anguis, having never desired conflict agreed. From then on he was routinely brought sacrificial meals of livestock on each new moon, and he came to protect the village. Revered as a god, rather than reviled as a lowly mud snake. He transcended from what he once was, to something greater. One day the being whom granted him his sentience visited and asked him what had become of his life. The massive snake told the being his story, and how he'd never forgot that he was once a lowly mud snake. The being told Anguis he would live for thousands of years, and that his children would inherit the world. It's said that this is the reason why Drakes can spit acid based fire.

Fenrir: Fenris (fen-ris like the word 'risk')

In the days of old there was a great dog named Fenris. He was so well known that visiting life forms took the name of this creature, and spread knowledge of him far and wide, much like several of the other gods of Emain. Fenris was the loyal dog of Scylla. The two nigh inseparable. As such both their stories are intertwined in both Emain native culture and artworks. Sometimes depicted as lovers, the truth was Scylla being the only ancient being of her type on Emain was lonesome. When she came across a pup that had been abandoned by his pack for his unnatural appearance, Scylla took him in and fed him from her own body. Fenris grew large and quickly became a massive scaled creature whos footfalls left divits in the ground. It's said that those seeking ultimate protection pray to Scylla to lend Fenris to them. This loyal beast would sooner die than watch one under his boon be killed, and for this he is both gullible, and naïve in his purity. The ferociousness at which he attacks his enemies is unparalleled. Fenris, if led astray by someone with dark intentions, can be the cause of massacres. For this, he isolated himself to the most northern island of Emain. Fenris's offspring have become the warhounds that drakes know and love to this day, those same warhounds that are imprinted upon their owners for life.

Scylla: Scylla (sky-la) (a literal hydra)

Scylla is said to be two-faced, but that's an allegory for the dark and light to her. Scylla, unlike the siren, is not boiling over with darkness from within. She retains her sanity and humanity, though not compassionate, she is honor driven and vengeful. Her loyalty cannot be bought, and mutiny against her is call for war. Scylla may be a massive hydra with multiple heads, but she is no more snake than Sorellus. In other words, though scaled and indistinguishable from what she should have been or what people associate with natural, there is such a strength within her body that there is no such thing as defeat. Scylla was for hundreds of years, a victim of intense harassment from both the native humanoids of Emain and the Kraken. She was forced to believe she was not strong, and that her physique being writhing heads was unnatural and vile. Scylla found her strength in the pup Fenris, giving her life essence to the young, dying pup she found purpose. For this, she is considered the emotionally driven Goddess of Emain. She would burn cities and level the planet if Fenris was harmed, or his offspring. She grants her protection to all of the scaled children of Emain, and her strength is revered so much that the beings told tales of her across other worlds, so even outside of Emain she was worshipped for her passion.
