“This is ridiculous! Absolute blasphemy!” Myne yelled, rightfully pissed as she bangged her fists against the metal bars of her prison. She was furious, positively fuming, although the female prison guard looked less than impressed by her tantrum. “I am part of the Melromarc Royal family! A princess, you hear me?! When word gets out that you in your audacity dared to imprison a princess of one of the world's superpowers in here, your head will roll faster than you can think!”

“Listen girl, I am just following orders.” The guard nonchalantly replied, shrugging her shoulders. “Yelling at me won’t be solving any of your problems anytime soon. So could you do me a favor and not give me a headache before your visitors arrive? Would help a lot.”

“Visitors? What visitors?” Myne asked, as she suddenly heard footsteps coming down the stairs behind the guard. Both of them briefly fell silent, with Myne even briefly believing that one of the cardinal heroes had come down to save her. Although her hopes were quickly dashed as she recognized the voices of her visitors. They weren’t voices she wanted to hear.

“Raphtalia look! It’s that mean princess again!” The little girl birdbrain from the shield hero yelped as she pointed at Myne, making her bite her lip. The little girl's name was Filo, although Myne really didn’t care enough to remember.

“What? What are you doing here?” The raccoon-eared demi-human scum and slave of the shield hero named Raphtalia asked, instantly on her guard. As if Myne was actually able to do anything through these magic sealing bars. What an idiot of a furry eared demi-human.

“I could ask you the same thing, toy of the shield devil.” Myne hissed back, crossing her arms as she averted her eyes, looking instead at the much more pleasing to look at green haired girl next to Raphtalia.

“I-I don’t like this. A-Are you sure we will be fine without N-Naofumi…?” She said, making Myne roll her eyes. So she was a tool of that devil too. Figures. Although she could have sworn that she last saw that girl in Itsuki’s party. Wasn’t her name Rishia or something? Eh, Myne didn’t have to care about her anymore now that she was in the shield devils party.

“Yes, you will. This is a special sealed off place meant to punish and rehabilitate the princess that is known throughout the lands and heavens for her lies, underhanded tricks, and betrayals.” The guard suddenly spoke up, facing all four other girls in the room. “Countless lives have been destroyed by her actions, so my master, who prefers to stay anonymous for obvious reasons, has orchestrated this little gathering just for her.”

“Then why are…?” Raphtalia wanted to ask, but the guard interrupted her instantly. “We felt it was reasonable to leave the punishment to the party that was most affected by her actions. However, the shield hero has declared pretty vocally that he is against further punishment to the first princess, and it would seem unreasonable for Melty, the crown princess, to hand out punishment to her own sister. So only you three were invited here.”

“Oh great. So you are saying that I am to get tortured by a beast, a bird and a stuttering moron. Great.” Myne sighed. At least it wasn’t that bad. When there is one thing that Myne prides herself in, then it is her intel into mostly every person she meets, and from there she actually already knows a lot about those three standing before her. Raphtalia wasn’t usually one for torture at all, Filo is a literal child so no way she can do something bad, and although Myne didnt know much about Rishia, there is no way this feeble girl wouldn’t just stumble at an attempt to harm a fly in the room. So Myne wasn’t worried.

“No. You are not allowed to hurt each other. Only talking. The only one allowed to cast spells is me. Understood?” The guard said, making all four of them blink, before Myne bursted into laughter.

“Ahahahaha!” She just couldn't contain herself anymore. “Wow, what sort of a moronic plan is that?! You somehow manage to catch me, throw me into a magically sealed cell and then want me to ‘talk it out’ with the shield demons oh so faithful dogs? Are you for real?!”

“That’s quite enough!” Raphtalia interjected. “If we have to talk it out, then we talk it out. But I won’t stand for any more insults towards master Naofumi!”

“And who do you think you are to tell me off? You are just a lowly demi-human!” Myne retorted instantly, shooting a death glare towards the lowly being, making her shake even more in anger.

“And you are just a dog… bitch that’s no different!” Raphtalia retorted and Myne almost wanted to laugh at her pathetic hiccup.

However, she didn't. She couldn’t. Something wasn’t right. Myne suddenly felt dizzy and hot, like her body wasn't quite her own. There were pulling forces everywhere, from her torso to her behind to her mind. But more strongly of all, to her ears. They felt like someone was pulling them, stretching them, making them longer than they should be. It was like they were gaining in volume too, like fur was starting to cover them. And then there was a pop behind her back, like something had just sprung out from her back.

But even though she was shocked at those feelings, she couldn’t quite pinpoint what had happened. Her ears felt normal, being the fluffy and pointy dog ears they have always been. Same with her black tail. Yet something had definitely just happened, so she definitely needed to be more vigilant now. Though Raphtalia now looked positively stunned for some reason.

“Did she just…” The raccoon stammered, looking like she had just witnessed a ghost.

“Like I said, I was the only one allowed to cast magic in here.” The guard nodded, looking smugly satisfied which Myne didn't like at all. “And let's say my magic is somewhat special.”

Okay, now Myne was sure. Something had happened just now and everyone was seeing it except her. So she had to play it cool for now, even if she didn't exactly know what was going on.

“Hey Rishia, I know it’s the bad princess and we fought her a lot, but what exactly did she do to make Master so angry?” The birdbrain asked, to which Myne almost cracked up into laughter once again. Children are truly stupid, aren’t they?

“She had her hands in play behind the scenes of practically everything bad that ever happened to Naofumi. And she tried to kill her own sister to get the throne. Among other things. She is really bad.” Rishia crudely explained.

“Oh! I get it! So she has hands in the kingdom and hands to attack with magic! She has four hands!” Filo happily declared, her wings flapping like she had actually achieved something.

While Rishia was correcting Filo’s incomprehensible conclusion, that same weird warm feeling returned to Myne’s body. This time just under her arms… or was it behind them? It felt like her shoulders were splitting apart and something new was pushing out from deep within her body. However the pain didn’t last and just disappeared without a trace only seconds later.

After that, it felt like that weirdness never happened once again. She felt around her body, looking for any traces or anything, but she couldn’t find anything. Her shoulders were fine, her hands were fine, her arms were fine. Even when she tried to covertly stretch all four of them, she couldn’t find anything wrong with them. Yeah, maybe she was having a bit of a cramp in her secondary pair because of her banging against the cellbars, but nothing that would alarm her in any way.

“That’s insane…” Raphtalia gasped, looking back and forth between the guard and Myne, as if she had just witnessed the second ghost of her life. Myne knew once again that something had happened, and it pissed her off that she somehow didn’t know about it and everyone else did.

“Is this your p-power…?” Rishia asked the guard, looking pale in the face. Filo on the other hand just stared at Myne with shining eyes. “Four arms… so coooool!”

“The who and what is on you to figure out, my dear guest. All I will say is that I’ll give you another 10 minutes to talk with her.”

Myne knew that there was something wrong. Something was incredibly wrong. But she couldn't put her index fingers on it… and she had four of them. So it was probably better for her to risk as little as possible and waste as much of their time with pointless banter as possible.

“So you're telling me that if I continue to chit chat with these beasts for another few minutes, you’ll just let me out again?” Myne asked the guard.

"Indeed. I’ll lead your visitors away first if you so desire, then you will be set free once again."

“Now isn’t that perfect. Alright you crude beasts of an inferior hero. Entertain me.” Myne smirked. Provoking them was definitely the right call. Better they throw pointless insults than whatever that magic the guard was talking about.

“Like you are any better now!” Raphtalia dared to interject, playing squarely into Mynes' trap, shouting. “You are a demi-human now too!”

“Don’t compare us, you lowly raccoon.” Myne spat back. “I am of the esteemed hellhound race, and you are nothing more than a raccoon beast in human form!”

“Oh yeah?" If I am a beast, then you are pretty much a monster! Everything about you is half human half monster! If you didn’t have your pretty face, you would be nothing but a monster!”

“But I have my pretty face~ So what are you going to do about it~?” Myne laughed Raphtalia’s comment off, but once again felt that burning feeling. Did she mess up? She didn’t even know what she needed to watch out for, but now this sensation assaulted her legs in full force, to which she now struggled to remain standing.

It felt to her like they were expanding and growing, an animalistic side suddenly being revealed within them that she didn’t know about. Her lower armor tore to pieces and dropped to the ground, revealing her massive paws she had for feet as well as her muscular furred legs. Even her secondary arms heated up, most likely from the fur that sprouted out from them, although the moment it stopped, Myne felt something in her mind just poof away, as if it left her with that weird heat.

She didn’t like the feeling. Not one bit. She hated forgetting things, and this felt like something was forcibly taken from her. A feeling that she hated with all her heart. Although it should’ve been easy for her to remember what it was, as she knew exactly where this heat was seconds ago… Although…

There was nothing wrong with her legs. Or arms. Her massive clawed paws were dangerous weapons like they always were, and her fur didn’t seem any different either. Her clawed second pair of arms also seemed normal and it was driving her nuts. What the heck just happened and why didn’t she see it?! It made no sense! No sense at all! But she couldn’t afford to lose her cool now, after all, she was still in control.

“Then isn’t it ironic? I am better at seducing men than any human, and physically stronger in combat than any demi-human.” Myne retorted condescendingly, scrapping her paw along the prison floor while holding her human hand to her face like a noble.

“And you are fluffy and big.” Filo stated in a dry tone, catching everyone off guard. “But not as fluffy and big as I am.”

“Don’t compare us, you birdbrained child. We are nothing alike!” Myne retorted, as that girl was seriously getting on her nerves. Why did she just always say the most random shit, it just didn't make sense.

“Hmpf! I won’t let you do it!” Filo huffed.

“...do what?” Myne feigned interest.

“I won’t let you pull my carriage!” Filo added. Case and point. Myne was ready to slam her head against the prison bar, but she needed to keep up appearances as she couldn't afford to look weak now. So her best bet was to just let Filo talk, waste time and never think about what she just rambled on about ever again.

“You are big and fluffy too, and you might be very huggable too, but I won't let you take my place! That carriage is mine! I know you want to pull it too! I know you want people to ride you too! But my carriage is mine and I won't let you take it away from me! You hear me?!” Filo pointed meaningfully at Myne.

“...are you done?” Myne asked, rolling her eyes. “What a ridiculous proposition. Are you implying a princess like me would ever want to pull a carriage like a…” That's when Myne stopped. Something was wrong, she could feel the heat in her head. This didn't make any sense, why did she have this feeling?

Why did Myne suddenly want to pull a carriage?!

This was utterly stupid, she had just briefly let her thoughts wander, and now the thought of being a carriage puller didn’t leave her head anymore. The heat was seemingly filling her entire body once again, but before she could even shift her attention to her rapidly growing lower body, she needed to get her thoughts in line first.

Did she really want to pull something heavy behind her, feel the breeze of the wind through her long and fluffy hair as she showed her strength by carrying not one but potentially multiple people behind her or on her?

For some reason, her head just said yes to all of that. She really wanted that, she REALLY wanted that. Every time she tried to come up with a counter argument, her legs grew a little bit thicker and more muscular to oppose her, itching to pull a carriage. Every time she thought of how stupid she would look, her hair just grew that bit longer, begging to flutter in the breeze. Every time she thought about how ridiculous it would be for someone to ride her, her back and butt extended a bit further out behind her, while another pair of thick pawed legs pushed out of her heavy barrel-like furred lower body.

She wanted someone to ride her. She wanted to carry a carriage. It was unbearable to think that that stupid bird was actually right, but Myne was actually getting jealous, knowing that Filo was getting to carry a carriage for the shield hero every day.

This she could definitely not let continue. As soon as she got out of this cell, she was getting her own carriage, no questions asked. Maybe she’d even entice someone to ride on her back. After all, with four legs thicker than tree trunks, she really was itching to carry people, it made perfect sense.

“So what, little girl? You have an amazing carriage, boo hoo.” Myne responded after regathering her thoughts, flashing her confident smile once again. “I am a princess, remember? It takes me approximately three words and ten seconds to get a carriage that's bigger, prettier and more practical than yours. Your feeble attempts to make me jealous only fuel my need to show you how superior I really am.”

“I think I understand now…” Raphtalia suddenly said, looking at the guard and then back to Myne with a cryptic look. Myne wasnt a fan of whatever Raphtalia had just figured out, but maybe it would help Myne understand what’s going on too. Pretty sure that she could loosen the lips of that raccoon with just one insult.

“Oh? Maybe your master wasn’t as stupid as I thought when he picked you up. Care to share what you have figured out?”

“If I am correct, then this should work.” Raphtalia looked unfazed, which was unsettling to Myne. She was sure Raphtalia would react to an insult to the shield demon. In any case, Myne knew to better listen closely to what she was about to say, although she wasn’t ready for her words. “Yes, you might be a princess, but you have no idea how to lead a country. You have never gone through any sort of education for that, only your sister Melty has. Instead, you have been training your entire life to be the perfect servant!”

“What sort of a stupid ass conclusion is that! I am a princess of Melromarc! Why would someone like me…” There was that feeling again, this time it was much more dreadful than all the ones before. Her head was in turmoil, she felt like things were thrown in and out without her consent.

Raphtalia’s claim sounded stupid at first, then worrying. Details that she knew she should know vanished from her head, which wasn’t so bad. She would just pick up a book again and read them up. But then she realized something… She really didn’t know much about her country at all. Like the church of the three heroes which conspired together with her… Why were they evil again? They did some underhanded things… but as to what Myne drew a total blank.

Myne has watched Melty work on many things before, like reports and finances and other stuff, but… she had no clue what she was even doing with them. Signing them… probably? Maybe when she brought her sister tea she should have paid more attention to what she was actually doing. But… politics never really were much of Myne’s strength.

She was more of a… cleaning person. And cooking. And being a muscle at work. That’s what she is good at and that’s what she specializes in. After all, she had trained for years upon years to be the most useful assistant a queen could ever have. No other servant even comes close to her utility, with her strength to move boulders as well as the elegance to cook and be presentable to official gatherings.

Now that she thought about it some more, conspiring with a church was just a stupid move. After all, she didn’t even know nearly enough to not get just used and discarded by those evil men. Well, that was a lesson she learned the hard way.

“Listen, Lady Raphtalia. I am sorry for all the trouble that I have caused you and the shield hero. Could we just leave it at ‘I owe you a favor’ and put this conflict behind us already? After all, there isn’t much more a maid of the queen like myself could do for you.” Myne didn’t mean any of that. She wasn’t sorry nor did she even know what Raphtalia was so mad about. But this way was the best way to defuse anger and get to an outcome that is favorable for a maid like herself.

“Time is up.” The guard suddenly spoke up, making herself noticeable after being silent for so long. “Alright girls, I give you one last chance to say something to her. One goodbye, if you will. Choose wisely.”

“He! Well, if I get one more thing to say to her~” Raphtalia smirked, leaning forwards towards the bars and staring at Myne, who just tilted her head slightly in confusion.

“Who said anything about goodbyes? Myne, you are no servant of the queen! You are a loyal and honest servant of the shield hero, and nothing makes you more happy than seeing him pleased and being useful to him!”

Myne blinked once again, this time only a very gentle flame singed through her head. At Raphtalia’s words, Myne instantly knew that they were true. Ever since they were first summoned, Myne instantly knew Naofumi was the one, her one true lord that was worth serving for life.

His kindness was limitless, his subjects happy, and his intentions, while sometimes a bit too skeptical, were very pure and realistic. He always knew what the right thing was to do. Such a person deserves to be happy, no questions asked. It was Mynes' life mission, to make that a reality. After all, what good is a maid if she couldn’t make someone’s life easier?

The cell door opened and Myne smiled, it was an honest and pure smile that somehow felt so alien to her, like she had never done that before. She raised her maid dress skirt, bowed her head and spoke. “Of course, Lady Raphtalia. I shall follow you back to our lord at once!”

“...that worked better than I had hoped. Is she safe now?” Raphtalia asked the guard, who just shrugged her shoulders.

“Who is to say? I didn’t do anything~”

“Well, I choose to trust you. Alright, Filo, Rishia. Let’s go home!” Raphtalia spoke, gesturing the two to follow her upstairs. Myne naturally followed, treading the stairs carefully with her huge pawed feet, barely fitting on each step as she walked.

“Raphtalia, is it really a good idea to take her along?” Rashia asked.

“I don’t know. But for now, I choose to trust in the magic.” Raphtalia replied with a shrug.

“Naofumi is going to lose it…” Rishia whispered, to which Myne remembered something.

“Lady Raphtalia, I am guessing that the lord is quite a ways off. Do you think it would be faster if you rode on my back for the trip home?” Myne asked with an obvious intention that Filo instantly picked up on.

“NO! We are here with the carriage, and that's my carriage they will be riding in!”

“Perhaps we could split up and let Lady Rishia ride on my back and…”

“NO means NO!” Filo pouted.

Oh well, it was worth a try. Myne didn’t worry since Lord Naofumi would definitely need more space to carry items in the future, so a carriage to her own name was all but guaranteed. But until then, all they could do was look in envy as her ladies rode in the carriage that Lady Filo got to pull.

Now all that was left for her was proving that she was useful enough to deserve a carriage of her own. Although that shouldn't be all too hard. She was an elegant servant, with two skilled hands and two strong claws, trained ears that could hear her master's command from across the village and four tree trunk sized strong legs with strength on par with Lady Filo.

She had no doubt in her head that she would be fine. Although her master's reaction to witnessing her new form remained to be seen…

Punishment can come in all sorts of forms. Even in undetectable, floofy serving forms. Evil princesses beware.
