Everybody is familiar with the feeling that things are not as they should be. That you are not successful enough, your relationships not satisfying enough. That you don’t have the things you crave.  In this video we want to talk about one of the strongest predictors of how happy people are, how easily they make friends and how good they are at dealing with hardship. An antidote against dissatisfaction so to speak: Gratitude.

Thank you very much!! I appreciate your understanding of the Law of attraction and the way you have beautifully expressed why Gratitude is the easiest way to Super Successful and Happy Life. Thank you very much!! Keep up the good work!! I love each of your videos.

Re: Not wanting to be a "self help" channel -- I think it's not a terrible idea to do videos like this more often, because you're speaking from a huge body of scientific literature when you do. Most channels and websites that are "self help" focused do so with very little scientific backing. If you just don't want to do it for the sake of not wanting to, that's fine, but I don't think anyone would fault you for bringing high quality science to this discussion.

Amazing video, as usual. I would love to get the Kurzgesagt gratitude journal, but I don’t like paper books. Can I buy a pdf or similar? Could be a patreon reward.

RE "This was a hard video to make. Gratitude felt vaguely risky to do as a topic. It has this aura of cheap Instagram hashtag self help stuff": This video is so much more than self help. Most self help is cheap nonsense; your video is "let me tell you about research on how your brain works and what makes people happy." It's primarily a presentation of research. Most self help is primarily garbage with very little real content.

Coupcumber

This sounds a lot like "forget about improving anything and be grateful you're not in the very worst part of our crumbling world".

I like the fact that they don't want to be seen as a "self help book"... because they aren't. And usually people gets too carried away (In favor and against it). Besides there is already a plethora of "self help" information and many of them are also scientifically backed. I loved the video. and the subject as always.

You're so lovely. Thankyou for working so hard to make the world a better place.

I am grateful to you for having made this video. It's fine if you want to make this kind of thing infrequently. If anything that makes it a bit more special when you do.

Bill Kerr

I was very disappointed that this ended in an ad for a product you made. That undermines the credibility of the rest of the video.

If attempting to do the journal, one should aim for different things each time right? Thats the impression I get but I was just curious

Will supporters be given a chance to pre order the book since it sold out?

Happy to join the chorus of "I'm grateful that you made this"!

They mentioned buying it was not necessary to do the task.

Thanks guys, awesome video!

Alwin JK

It was a great video. I really hope you'll reconsider your decision to make only 1 self-help video per year. I think a lot of people, including myself, will appreciate a more frequent schedule. Still, you guys are doing a wonderful job. Keep it up!!

Liyuan Wang

I watched this so many times. It is healing for me. Thank you.
