Hello everyone,

Welcome to our latest roadmap update! Here, we'll share the current state of our upcoming projects, explain why some mods got canceled, and give you some teasers for the future.

Behind the Scenes at Vanilla Expanded

At Vanilla Expanded, we've got a few different pipelines, each with its own focus. I handle all the art and mod designs, but we've got different folks doing code, working on different themes.

Vehicles Pipeline

This one is mostly handled by me, Smash Phil, and sometimes xrushha for XML and Taranchuk for extra C# mechanics. It's pretty much its own thing, separate from the rest of VE.

Anomaly Pipeline

This is a newer pipeline that we're working on "on the side" so it doesn't delay our main projects. It's all about different anomalies within the game.

Overhaul and Content Pipelines

We've got two main pipelines here: Major Overhaul Mods and Smaller Content Mods.

  • Smaller Content Mods: Includes projects like Bioferrite Weapons, Aspirations Expanded, and Birds.

  • Major Overhaul Mods: Bigger projects like Health Expanded, Exploration Expanded, Childhood Expanded, and Mining Expanded.

These projects involve the whole team, but each member has their own specialty. Our awesome team includes:

  • Taranchuk: Our C# wizard

  • Sarg: Animal and gene coding expert

  • Xrushha: XML guru

  • Arquebus: Great with semi-complex systems

  • RedMattis: Brilliant with complex genes and pawn rendering

  • Erdelf: Creator of the Humanoid Alien Races framework, helps out sometimes

  • Smash Phil: The mastermind behind vehicle code

Project Updates

Cancelled and On-Hold Mods

With Legodude17 moving on from modding, we've had to cancel the Animat psycaster path mod and put Diplomacy Expanded on hold. We're figuring out if we can continue these projects without losing our usual polish and quality.

Active Development and Testing

  • Vanilla Factions Expanded - Insectoids 2: Currently in testing and getting great feedback. It’s moving towards release.

  • Vehicle Upgrades Mod: Almost done and should be released soon.

  • Vanilla Weapons Expanded - Bioferrite: Nearly finished and ready to go.

Upcoming Projects

  • Vanilla Factions Expanded - Medieval and Vikings Merger: We're excited to work on this merger, which will let us get back to Exploration and Megacorps when it's done. Generally it won't have as much changes and overhauls as the Insectoids 2 had, but it will still contain lots of new content.

  • Vanilla Health Expanded: We're laying down the design for this mod, which will bring lots of new content and mechanics to the health system.

  • Vanilla Anomalies Expanded Series: On hold until we’ve had more time with the Anomaly DLC to make sure we deliver top-notch content.

We’re thrilled with how things are going and the positive feedback we’ve received for Insectoids 2. Can’t wait to share more with you soon!

The Vehicle Expanded Line looks exciting, I can't wait to send my fleet out to plunder (evil smile)

The ones I'm most excited for are Medieval 2 (I really miss the medieval VE mods!) and Old War Vehicles. Can't wait for them to come out!
