Hey everyone! I've got another Vanilla Races Expanded - Insector update for you.

You can check the previous post HERE.

You have suggested some really cool genes in the last post about Insectors. I wouldn't be myself if I didn't at least consider some of them.

As such, we've decided to add a few more evolutions and degrades. Let me post them below so that you can see if your idea made it in.

We have also changed how metapod stage works. Instead of being a flat 24 hour cocoon stage, it now has a bit more gameplay depth: You can use insect jelly (which works well if you have jelly sacks on your insectors) to speed up the process from 5 days to 1 day. The shorter the pawn spends in the metapod, the shorter the metapod sickness hediff will be.

Metapod sickness is similar to postpartum sickness mixed with cryptosleep sickness, and will have your pawn vomit, walk around with lower efficiency and most importantly: unable to enter metapod again for the duration.

This can last anywhere between 1 days to 3 days, depending on the duration spent in the metapod.

The idea of making a genetic caste system is really cool. Specific colonists designed for fighting whilst others are designed for utility tasks and research. Similar to real world eusocial insects

I like the idea of parthenogenesis, but as a bee keeper might i suggest that unless fertilized by a male, all offspring created by parthenogenesis be male? You see this in bees and ants, where unfertilized queens will only lay male eggs as to make up for the lack of available males to mate with. I don't know the coding aspect, but they could still be clone offspring, just gender flipped to male.
