Chapter 76

Early the next morning, Ling Chunann woke up, staring at the ceiling with a complex expression.

"Host, what's wrong?" 098 felt a bit uneasy seeing the thoughtful look on his host's face.

"I regret a bit," Ling Chunann said.

"Why?"

"If I had known that exercising could enhance my ability level, why did I procrastinate for so long?" Ling Chunann sighed, "It's a mistake."

"..."

After last night, Ling Chunann's ability directly broke through the first-level peak, reaching the mid-second level in one go, which was a remarkable improvement compared to his previous level.

As Mo Yuzheng carried a lovingly prepared breakfast into the bedroom, Ling Chunann stood in front of the mirror with excitement, Bun rolling around at his feet. The warm sunlight streamed in through the French windows, creating a particularly peaceful atmosphere.

"Host, Mo Yuzheng is here." 098 kindly reminded, seeing the man standing by the door in a daze.

"I know." Ling Chunann still kept his eyes fixed on his reflection in the mirror.

"What are you looking at?"

"Do you not notice that I look different now compared to when I first arrived?"

098 carefully observed Ling Chunann's current appearance – doll-like face, large eyes, fair skin, rosy lips – except for... "You gained a bit of weight."

"...098, you've become quite bold." Ling Chunann's face darkened.

"Cough, I'm sorry, Host," 098 hastily apologized, "I really didn't notice any difference."

"Your eyesight is getting worse. You didn't even notice that I'm becoming more attractive."

Feeling choked up, 098 thought it better not to provoke the host.

What Ling Chunann didn't tell 098 was that he noticed this body was gradually resembling his original appearance more and more, but describing it as becoming more beautiful wasn't entirely wrong.

Glancing at the mirror again, Ling Chunann turned to Mo Yuzheng. "Uncle."

"Darling," Mo Yuzheng responded, still a bit dazed.

"The bowl is about to overturn," Ling Chunann reminded. Wasn't the man wearing the same expression when his eyesight recovered last time?

Before Ling Chunann could finish reminiscing, he was engulfed in a sturdy embrace, followed by passionate kisses.

Watching the two about to ignite a fire again, 098 suddenly felt a bit disillusioned.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Bai Zishu awkwardly held onto her son, waiting at the door for Tang Lingfeng's arrival. Ever since she gave birth to this little bundle, she hadn't held him much, mainly because every time she did, the child would cry, which was quite annoying.

Tang Lingfeng instructed the driver to stop the car. With one glance, he spotted the little one in Bai Zishu's arms, along with her awkward posture. He furrowed his brows, then got out of the car and strode toward Bai Zishu.

Bai Zishu smiled at Tang Lingfeng and took a few steps towards him. "Lingfeng, you're here." Perhaps due to her movement, the child, who had been frowning, suddenly started crying. Bai Zishu hurriedly patted his back and then smiled apologetically at Tang Lingfeng. "Sorry, he's a bit shy."

As if not hearing Bai Zishu's words, Tang Lingfeng reached out. "Let me hold him."

"Huh? But..." Bai Zishu seemed to want to refuse, but seeing his expression, she couldn't say anything more. She involuntarily handed the child over.

Tang Lingfeng had helped friends hold babies before, and his posture was much better than Bai Zishu's. Dramatically, the little one, who had been crying just moments ago, closed his mouth as soon as he was in Tang Lingfeng's arms, staring at him with wide, dark eyes, and even grabbing onto Tang Lingfeng's index finger.

Tang Lingfeng's heart softened. This was his child.

Seeing the harmonious scene between father and son, Bai Zishu couldn't help but smile.

At that moment, Tang Lingfeng's gaze fell on the bandage wrapped around the child's forehead. "What happened here?"

"Last night, I left him playing on the bed for a moment, and before I knew it, he fell off." Bai Zishu's expression became somewhat guilty.

"Really?" Tang Lingfeng teased the little one absentmindedly, then asked somewhat casually.

Bai Zishu's heart skipped a beat, unsure of what Tang Lingfeng meant exactly, but she continued along with his previous comment. "Yes, I was terrified yesterday. Luckily, the doctor said it was just a minor injury, otherwise, I wouldn't know what to do."

"Mm." Tang Lingfeng nodded. "Let's go."

Following behind Tang Lingfeng, Bai Zishu, empty-handed, felt somewhat uneasy. He couldn't shake the feeling that Tang Lingfeng's attitude towards him had grown colder.

No, it couldn't be. Tang Lingfeng must be uncertain whether the child was his. Once he confirmed the little one was his, Tang Lingfeng would surely regard him differently.

With this thought, Bai Zishu gained confidence. After getting into the car, he naturally sat beside Tang Lingfeng. "Shall I hold the child?"

"It's okay, I can hold him." Tang Lingfeng lightly touched the bandage on the child's forehead, a hint of coldness flashing in his eyes. However, he refrained from reacting immediately due to his manners.

Bai Zishu was completely unaware of Tang Lingfeng's strangeness and was envisioning their future life after father and son were reunited.

Several hours later, after receiving the test results confirming the biological relationship, Bai Zishu looked at Tang Lingfeng expectantly, his eyes filled with joy.

However, Tang Lingfeng repeatedly examined the paper before leaving with the child.

"Lingfeng, what's wrong?" Bai Zishu hurried to catch up, calling out as they walked.

Only after leaving the hospital did Tang Lingfeng stop. With one hand holding the child, he swung the other toward Bai Zishu's face, stopping just three centimeters away, the wind from his fist lifting the hair on Bai Zishu's forehead.

Bai Zishu's face turned pale, seemingly not comprehending Tang Lingfeng's unexpected action. Then, it dawned on him, and he quickly stepped back. "Ling...Lingfeng, what do you want?"

Tang Lingfeng withdrew his hand, coldly staring at Bai Zishu. "You know what you did. Since he is my child, I have the right to take him away. Since you seem to dislike him, I'll take him with me for now."

"I...I don't dislike him," Bai Zishu argued.

"If you like him, then why don't you even know how to hold a child?" Tang Lingfeng's expression remained indifferent.

"We usually have servants to take care of him..."

"Then what about the injury on his forehead?"

"I...I..."

Watching Tang Lingfeng leave without a word, Bai Zishu stood there, bewildered, wondering where he had gone wrong.

"Reversal value +10%, current reversal value is 80%, please continue to work hard, Host."

"Um?" Ling Chunann glanced at the phone on the bedside table, which was already turned off. "Have they had a change of heart?" Ling Chunann had no words to comment on the eccentric parents of the Bai family.

When his son was in critical condition, they didn't care; during months of hospitalization, they only glanced at him once; and even after he was discharged for a year, they never showed concern, only occasionally calling. Now, after a year, they finally realized he needed care. Ling Chunann sighed. "They care so much about me. Should I be moved to tears for Bai Zimu?"

"..."

In the end, the Bai family's parents didn't even get to see Ling Chunann; they were turned away by Mo Yuzheng. Ironically, moments earlier, they had been confident about bringing Ling Chunann back, but upon seeing Mo Yuzheng, they didn't even utter a word, turning and leaving in what seemed like a hasty retreat.

"I was actually planning to go out and meet them if they stayed a few more minutes," Ling Chunann said, a hint of regret in his expression. "This is Bai Zimu's family." He sighed. "098, send the information collected when I first came to this world to Bai's father."

"Yes, Host." This time, the host really seemed determined to kill Bai Zishu, 098 sighed. Although there weren't many descriptions of Bai's parents in the original plot, their aversion to all things strange was written loud and clear, including men giving birth to children. Moreover, Bai Zishu had once tried to kill Bai Zimu and nearly succeeded, with clear evidence, enough to convict him of attempted murder.

Bai Zishu had no idea that his end was near as he stood there, holding his phone, pondering how to explain things to Tang Lingfeng.
