Chapter 140

While engaging in conversation with 098, Ling Chunann's response was prompt. As soon as Noel finished speaking, Ling Chunann took his hand, "Nice to meet you, teacher. I'm Yu Yichen, a freshman, presumably in the mecha engineering department."

"That's for sure," Noel said with a smile.

Ling Chunann caught a glimpse of his hand still being firmly grasped and a hint of amusement flashed in his eyes.

"That..." Noel's tone carried a hint of confusion, "Have we met before?"

"Hm?" Ling Chunann looked up at him, his expression a mixture of amusement, "Where do you think we've met before, teacher?"

After a moment of silent observation, Noel suddenly pulled Ling Chunann closer and whispered in his ear, "The person from last time, that was you, right?"

"I don't know what you're talking about," Ling Chunann firmly denied.

"I remember your scent," Noel inhaled deeply by Ling Chunann's neck, then stepped back with a serious look, "Would you be willing to become my consort?"

098: "..." That was rather abrupt, especially since the host is currently presenting as an alpha. Doesn't the saying go that like repels like? Why doesn't that natural law apply to this individual?

The man, unbeatable on the battlefield, seemed a bit anxious, fearing Ling Chunann might refuse, he added, "Of course, I know you're still young, I can wait."

Ling Chunann remained silent, observing Noel until sweat appeared on his forehead, then suddenly smiled, "You said you remember me, but do you remember what happened that day?" Ling Chunann asked.

Noel furrowed his brows, then shook his head. Aside from Ling Chunann's scent and his appearance, he hadn't retained any other details from that day. After waking up, it had taken him a long time to find Ling Chunann, naturally unaware of what had happened before he regained consciousness.

"Let me remind you then." Ling Chunann wrapped his arms around the man's neck, leaning in for a kiss.

098, the sole witness, saw the robust man's face flush from forehead to neck, and then his buttons were undone by Ling Chunann, who, having been famished for a long while, bit down hard... It knew it would end like this.

Noel didn't push Ling Chunann away; instead, he embraced him, a glint of confusion in his eyes as if he had forgotten something.

Ten minutes later, Ling Chunann released him, swiftly healing the man's now recuperating wounds. Licking the corner of his lips, he said, "Thank you. I'll give your proposal serious consideration."

Putting aside his confusion, Noel's face lit up with joy, "Great!"

"Well then, Teacher Noel, I'll be leaving now," Ling Chunann stepped back, blowing him a kiss, "Thanks for the meal."

"..."

After leaving Noel's sight, 098 finally exhaled in relief. It had been worried Ling Chunann might immediately accept Noel's proposal. Such an action could have jeopardized their already precarious mission, as competing with a prince for a partner, especially when the target list includes the current Imperial Prince, is absurd.

Upon remembering their mission, 098 suddenly mentioned, "Host, Xin Lin has just arrived at the school for registration!"

"It doesn't matter, he won't be returning to the mecha department," Ling Chunann stated.

"How can you be so sure?" 098 asked, puzzled, "No, my main point isn't that. Host, Xin Lin and the second male lead met earlier, and the first male lead saw him too. It seems he left a good impression."

Ling Chunann nodded, "Let's go have a look."

Noel, who had just been bitten and left, touched his lips, smiling more deeply as he watched Ling Chunann walk away. Buttoning up his collar, he followed out of the testing room.

At that moment, a chubby middle-aged alpha, the school's headmaster, spotted Noel and rushed over, "Prince, there are some formalities at the academy that require your attention."

Since the last time Ling Chunann had beaten him, Xin Lin, who couldn't afford healing potions, had spent an entire half-month in bed, barely recovering only today. However, a faint bruise still lingered near his eye, lending him a somewhat pitiful look.

At the time, Xin Lin was chatting and laughing with a handsome, upright alpha, appearing exceptionally harmonious.

"It took so much effort, yet he didn't end up disfigured," Ling Chunann remarked with slight regret.

"Well, he has the male lead's aura," 098 shared the sentiment, glancing at the second male side character, "To meet him so early and still manage to leave a good impression is quite something. Host, this might be the most challenging mission you've faced."

Ling Chunann didn't comment on the "male lead's aura," merely nodding at Karalana and Mari who had approached, "Have you been assigned to your classes yet?"

Karalana replied, "Yes, I'm in mecha class one. What about you?"

Mari sighed, "Alas, I've been transferred to mecha design. It seems I can't escape destiny."

Karalana chuckled, then focused back on Ling Chunann, "You haven't answered my earlier question."

Mari shot Karalana a look before asking, "Yeah, Yichen, what were you doing away for so long? Did the teacher give you a hard time? That teacher looked quite stern."

"No, the teacher was very nice," Ling Chunann responded, leaving ambiguous which teacher he referred to, "I'm also in mecha class one."

"Which dorm are you in?" Karalana blurted out.

"Why? Want to room together?" Ling Chunann turned to Karalana.

As if his tail had been stepped on, Karalana immediately jumped up, denying, "Pfft, how could that be? My roommate must be a cute, soft beta!"

Had his ears not been red, 098 would have been more inclined to believe that lie.

"Then that's settled," Ling Chunann nodded, "It would be quite troubling if you were harboring a crush on me."

Karalana's face turned the color of liver, seemingly furious. Mari, who had been standing by his side, quickly stepped back several paces, not wanting to be caught in the crossfire.

Ling Chunann laughed, "Just kidding, you took it seriously?"

"Get lost!"

Seeing that it was about time, Ling Chunann dusted off his sleeves, glanced at Xin Lin still chatting happily with the second male side character, and smiled even more, "Alright, I'm off. See you tomorrow."

Mari: "See you tomorrow."

Karalana: "Hmph!"

"First male side character's favorability +10%, current favorability at 90%!"

Just as 098 was about to question Ling Chunann's provocation towards Karalana, it immediately changed its tune, "Host, you're amazing!"

"098, send me the footage of Xin Lin's encounter with the second male side character," Ling Chunann requested.

"Yes, Host," prepared 098 promptly transmitted the collected images to Ling Chunann.

Xin Lin had barely left his house when he was targeted by two thugs who stole his tuition and intended more harm before being heroically rescued by the second male side character. The hero not only retrieved Xin Lin's tuition but also taught the thugs a lesson.

However, it was peculiar when the second male side character wanted to hand the thugs over to the security forces, Xin Lin stopped him. Touched by Xin Lin's kindness, the second male side character let them go.

Ling Chunann reviewed the footage of the two thugs several times.

098, puzzled, asked, "Host, is there something wrong with them?"

"Help me look into the relationships Xin Lin has formed since arriving at the Imperial Star," Ling Chunann instructed, "and check on Old Mith's situation."

"Yes, Host," 098 responded.

As Ling Chunann completed more tasks, 098's capabilities expanded significantly, allowing it to track the activities of main characters over a period without surveillance aids, although Old Mith wasn't a main character, posing a slight issue for 098.

However, 098 was soon shocked, "Host, Old Mith died a week ago, right when Xin Lin was en route to the Imperial Star. According to records, he was also burned to death."

"Hm," Ling Chunann was unsurprised, "And his relationships?"

"The male lead has been bedridden these past few days, hardly interacting with anyone," 098 reported, then suddenly paused, eventually realizing something with a furious tone, "He knew those thugs! He had them come to harass him." Shocked by the protagonist's scheming nature, 098 added, "Old Mith must have been killed by him too, how ruthless." It had never seen such a malevolent protagonist.

"Host, you must expose his true nature!" 098 declared righteously.

"Now's not the time," Ling Chunann replied leisurely, "Save the footage of his agreement with those men."

"Yes, Host," 098 complied, then hesitated before asking, "Host, you mentioned you're in mecha class one, but what if you're not?"

After posing the question, 098 waited for a response, which didn't come until Ling Chunann returned to the hotel, realizing it had asked a silly question.

With Ling Chunann around, his word determined his class.

Sure enough, upon returning to the hotel, a delivery drone brought Ling Chunann a packet containing a key, a timetable, an academy pass, and a delicate silver ring.

Just as Ling Chunann was reviewing the items, his communicator lit up with a message.

[My dear, your class is mecha class one. The ring contains some little things and a mecha, consider it a welcome gift from me—Love, Noel.]

098: "..." It was clear they were in sync.

Ling Chunann tossed the ring in his palm before wearing it on his left middle finger.

The slightly loose ring instantly adjusted to fit perfectly, the silver setting complementing his distinctively knuckled fingers beautifully.

"Host, this spatial ring isn't from this world," 098 observed.
