One important thing to remember is that the fake memories things has happened before. With Todo. Todo had memories with yuji in them.

Todo himself intentionally chose to imagine what his life could’ve been like if he grew up/went to school with Itadori. Not exactly the same thing that’s going on here with Choso.

Literally just Todo being Todo. I think the "joke" is a lot more apparent to the Japanese audience because with Todo is just BURAZZA but with Choso it's Nii-san.

That's because Todo is Todo. He also had mid-combat memories of his pop idol helping him work out how the creepy plant buds that eat cursed energy functioned, which also never happened. His junior high school is like his Mind Palace or something.

no Todo doesnt. In season one there was unfortunately no narrator but in manga there was with excatly the same phrase "Memories that didnt exist". So its exactly the same thing what happened to Choso and Todo

And Gege intentionally ordered Mappa to remove all narration from season 1 for a reason. One of those reasons was probably specifically to draw a bigger distinction between these 2 events than there originally was in the manga.

Yeah, Sukana is having "a bit of fun" with Yuji as his vessel. But if Yuji kicks the bucket Sukuna still has all his fingers keeping him alive. It's not even a mutually assured survival situation.
