I assume nobody at Usami's facility knew how messed up Robin is, but damn - he's the last person you'd like to get some kind of medical or surgical know-how.

Payam Sharifi

Man I had to skip through some of this ngl. It wasn't just the fucked up parts that were hard to watch, but it's hard to sit in anticipation for the fucked up parts I know are coming. I do think there could be potentially really interesting and powerful things this leads to for Kiriko, but if they do end up doing that, it'll have to be in season 2. And so yeah just looking at what we have, I can't help but feel a little upset about being shown something so shocking and traumatic and then it just ends so soon after. If you're gonna make me sit through something like that, I wish I could at least get more time with the characters afterward, see them process what happened. I'm not someone who feels like everything in art needs to serve a purpose/justify its inclusion, but in the case of rape, yeah I'd like to see what the writer is trying to explore, outside of simply shocking the audience.

Robert Perez

Completely agree but I definitely don’t think it’s just to shock the audience, everything else is too well written for that to be the case. I haven’t read ahead, but the manga obviously didn’t know that this is where the season would end so it’s not really the fault of the original author that this is how it happened. It’s just sort of an unfortunate inevitability in adapting this into a 1 cour anime season. Also, yeah just seeing the thumbnail, I feel hesitant to even click on the video.

Payam Sharifi

Yeah I agree, I'm reading the manga now (currently just at the Kiriko/Haruki flashback), which I absolutely would not do if I didn't have some faith in the story being told. So yeah we'll see how that goes (not looking forward to arriving at this scene again).

Hans Wurst

I had the same thought. "This must lead to something". Going by the rest of the show, there is no way it was just put in there for a shocking twist.
