I completely forgot about the Todd subplot for this episode.

I think something really important to keep in mind in regards to the Tony Curtis argument with Mr. Peanutbutter and Diane is that it's pretty clear that this isn't the first time this has happened. I think this would be pushing it really far if it was a first time occurrence. But it seems like this is frequently an issue, where basically no matter what Diane ever says, Mr. Peanutbutter just assumes that it's not necessarily correct. Feeling the need to constantly fact check your partner is quite disrespectful imo, especially in a public setting (regardless of who is right). I think it's also important to note that Mr. Peanutbutter didn't know himself, but was still willing to doubt her even though she was sure of herself on it. I think if Mr. Peanutbutter was actually convinced Tony Curtis was alive, then it would make more sense for him to disagree, but he seemingly didn't know one way or the other, so was only contradicting Diane because he doesn't trust that she might know something that he doesn't.

Just Jackie!

I think the bros touched on the true issue with Diane and Mr. Peanut butter for a second, but jumped over too quickly. Diane wasn't disrespected from being second guessed in public or fact checking, but about her husband's continuous issue of hearing what she says and responding "but really?" Specifically, the part about not liking parties and big grand gestures. He already upset her that night. She was already annoyed. Tony Curtis was just icing-- and indicative of their bigger issues. Diane speaking her truth (whether you agree or disagree) and Mr. Peanut Butter paying that no heed (whether well meaning or not).

Absolutely. Once the party started, Diane was a lit fuse in search of a stick of dynamite.

Oh bros, great discussion but it's funny how a few tiny things you didn't catch or misremember afterwards might have changed the discussion. First off, Diane HAS told him she doesn't like parties, it's brought up in the ballroom scene and he doesn't contradict her, instead he says "But it's the thought that counts, right?" Second, she wasn't doing the same thing to Wanda, Wanda asked what Tony Curtis was up to these days, Diane tells her he's dead and then Mr PB second-guesses her. It might not be a sensitive way to answer the question, but Wanda says she didn't know if he was alive or not, so she can't have meant to imply that he was. I think this episode by leaving out the actual start of the argument and mostly only leaving us with what Diane says apart from a few key details mentioned in the other stories, invites the viewer to second-guess Diane themselves. Makes me curious if you will realize and bring it up in the future =)

I think it's framed the way that it is because we are supposed to trust Diane's version of events here. It's specifically not giving us contradictory information to her story. So it's very telling to me when viewers still manage to second-guess her for some reason here, and it's kinda funny that it ends up being the exact thing that Mr. Peanutbutter is doing.
