I'm no expert, but I think there technically weren't "two assassins".... not at a time. One assassin died, another one was able to immediately emerge. Idk the details of how, other than magic (obviously). But yeah. Also, that fight with Rider vs. Assassin towards the end was my favorite scene in this movie. I love this Rider so much.

The idea is that the Assassin (Sasaki Kojiro) that we've known has been sort of a false servant that was put in place by Caster. He was not originally supposed to be summoned. Instead, it was supposed to be the figure we see emerging from Kojiro's body. It's never really shown why exactly, but the visual novel implies it is Zouken that undoes Caster's false summoning and allows the original servant to be freed.
