Just my opinion but kiwi's betrayal felt kinda forced or added. Her motivations is understandable but to betray your group for no reason? Idk, didn't take away from the show tho, still a great show.

The 'problem' in the show imo is the fast pacing. We as an audience don't spend much time with the characters and it creates a void like the one with Kiwi. We get a glimpse of it when she got slightly mad when she hacked and didn't feel appreciated 'Thank you Kiwi', and 'we both know you don't mean me' (preemest Netrunner). If we got at least 3-6 more episodes, I think the show could've been perfect (which is already so close to being one IMO).

Yeah its a bit odd but at the same time it also makes sense cause from episode 1ish they were like "You can only trust yourself in night city" yet repeatedly gave us people who were loyal af and would die for David except Kiwi who was the only one not seen hanging around or having 1-1 time with she kept to herself and didn't connect with the group. And then with Davids start of CyberPyschosis you can argue she out of anyone besides Lucy would notice the signs of it early on after Maine almost took her head off the last time and she decided it was time to split before it was too late.

I was fine with it. Kiwi's betrayal wasn't really foreshadowed, but it didn't really need to be. She's always been sorta cold and disinterested, and they didn't really emphasize any outstanding loyalty or kinship with her. In this setting I think you should more or less assume everyone is gonna be a backstabber until you have good reason to think otherwise. And if someone has to be the backstabber, it makes sense that it's the one with no character other than a monotone voice.

Definitely agree with the last line, she decided to split before she was betrayed she assume would happen because she wasn't as close as Maines group. But on a third rewatch? Still feels out of the blue.

They kept reinforcing the fact that you can't trust anyone but yourself. It was setup that someone in the group was going to betray them. I never found it to be a problem at all. If they hadn't kept reinforcing the fact that there was always going to be trust issues no matter what I would see it as being forced but it isn't as bad since they kept pushing that all along

Also, alternative theory is that Kiwi was just hired to catch the netrunner, she didn't know it was Lucy beforehand

If you pay enough attention to the few lines of dialogue she has with everyone throughout the show, it's actually really easy to see what kind of person she is, and her betrayal comes as no surprise at all. I agree through, at full 12 episode cour would probably have greatly elevated this show, but man, it didn't NEED it.

it certainly could've been developed better, but I can totally forgive the show for it
