Mettrop

I love how real the characters feel.

PKKite

Did yall forget that Yuske was feeling like he didn't belong and regretted his decision leaving demon world before this???

HamHamJ

People go on about the dark tournament but I think this is actually my favorite arc because of how real and raw it feels.

Gdadder

Man I’m gonna be honest, I REALLY don’t know if I can keep watching their reactions of YYH at this rate. It’s so clear that they’re not really enjoying it and they seem to want to nitpick more than anything lately, what’s the discussion part? Oh gotta complain about a character right away! This motivation seems wrong, how did that happen. It really doesn’t seem like they’re enjoying this show anymore and all cause they heard the ending was rushed? Like come on guys don’t let what others say temper your expectations.

Christopher Jackson

I know everyone spending hard earned money for their reactions but y'all got to realize they are being authentic and have a right to speak on whatever subject matter they want. Don't forget they nitpick EVERYTHING and they "argue" with each other without realizing they are saying the same thing lol. There have been so many times they made deep analyzes for stuff that doesn't matter. So don't take things to heart people. YOU can still enjoy Yu Yu Hakusho.

*Arc hasn't even started yet* "This arc needed about 2-3 more episodes of stuff to setup" Btw I also think it makes perfect sense for Yusuke to decide to go back to human world because that's where all his friends and family are, but this feeling of having someone or something in him that's not really HIM obviously builds up immense unease over time. And I am very sure that even back then when he said to go back to human world, he did so because of his friends and it being his home, but that doesn't mean he didn't still have a really bad feeling about something else being able to take control over his body. And ALSO, this little in-between arc in human world makes perfect sense for Yusuke to cement this feeling of unease, AND also sets up an actual reason and invitation which is pretty much giving him a ticket he can't decline, because everything just came together. Even if it has unfortunate consequences, like the Yusuke and Keiko relationship falling apart, which this episode executed absolutely brilliantly.

"Because I KNOW that it ends pre-maturely" How about not believing everything you hear as literal fact and having it impact your view really negatively ? Being more open to whatever is to come would make you a much better reaction channel, and normally you used to be that way, which is why I'm VERY disappointed. Please less meta-commentary and more open-minded commentary about the actual current story and character development.

Attia Mazen

@Jacek Absolutely agree, it's my 2nd favorite arc overall after Chapter Black, but it has episodes like this which are in my top 5 episodes of the entire show.

Youmu Senju

Yikes. It wasn't an "off hand comment", it was him saying he was cool with human-eating demons continuing to eat humans. Saying you want her to "shut the fuck up" because you can't grasp how horrifying that is... It's you who looks bad for that. Gotta' be really, really dense to not see what a massive departure that is from Yusuke the human now that he's Yusuke the demon. He has changed in subtle ways he doesn't even understand yet, but you're so quick to minimize it and tell someone who knows her shit to "STFU"? Maybe you should spend more time listening to what people say and thinking about it before speaking if you're going to so grossly misconstrue what's going on. :(

Leo

yikes, the amount of madge ppl here, cause how dare they not get something or dislike something on my favorite show. Keep on keeping on guys. Y'all doing fantastic,

Leo

says who? your opinion? Everyone is entitled to theirs. This last arc has very big flaws in setting up Yusuke's decision. Yes he was feeling conflicted. but its literally one scene of "think about it for a week" and the next is... "made up my mind already! i am gonna abandon, my mother, friends, and even the girl i love with the possibility i never even make it back." it felt weak and rushed. The moment with Keiko is nice but how we got there was weak. Ps: i am a fan of yu yu hakusho, i just don't lick the very ground it stands on.

Timo

And this is also a copy of my other YouTube comment.

So I guess when wolves kill and eat a deer, that's horrifying? What are demons who literally have to eat specifically humans to live supposed to do, just sit down and die because they had the bad luck to be born? From a human perspective, yes, that's obviously going to be disturbing. But that isn't actually a perspective that makes sense on a scale that accounts for all PEOPLE, regardless of whether those people are human. If we decide it's wrong for a sentient species to literally eat the only thing it can eat to survive, because that thing is another sentient species, we're deciding that one race inherently has more value than another. I... really don't think I should have to say any more than that to make it clear why that's fucked up. I'm not saying there's an easy answer. Like many things in fiction and in real life, sometimes there is literally no answer that is actually fair to everyone, or there is an answer that's fair to everyone but it hasn't been possible to do it and it isn't possible to implement it instantly either. I'd say that if there IS a solution here, it's to clone human flesh that never actually belonged to anything with a mind or soul, but obviously that requires technology and/or magic that nobody has at this point, and would probably take a lot of time to set up, although someone really should actually do that in the future honestly, and then hope that satisfies whatever weird metaphysical thing is going on with that. Which HOPEFULLY could work, and is obviously very much worth trying. It's a depiction of a situation that is currently (and possibly permanently) fundamentally unfair in a world that is sometimes fundamentally cruel. But if Yusuke being able to empathize with that is partly a result of being part demon now, then thank god he's part demon. He's never actually been someone who couldn't handle that the universe is fundamentally amoral, that was Sensui's problem, not Yusuke's. So if becoming more demonic helps him see reality more clearly, all I really see there is a nudge in the right direction character-development wise, and it's a direction he was already headed in anyway. It's HER attitude that actually really is horrifying. It would be one thing to hate the situation and want to defend your own, which is clearly reasonable and fair. It makes sense that there would be humans who hate this, and it sucks that it's like this, and any specific human has as much right to fight to defend their life as any other lifeform, but actually hating something for being born fundamentally different is... about as close to actually evil as anything can be in an amoral universe, which is the kind of universe Yu Yu Hakusho depicts and is definitely the kind of universe we actually live in IRL. There really isn't even anything to debate. Everything has to eat SOMETHING to live. Not everything gets to choose what that something is. Nothing further to say to anyone on the subject. This ain't rocket surgery; if anything, it's the simple, obvious truth. So if anyone has a hot take, I might read it, but if someone managed to read this and still disagrees, there is nothing further I'll say. I'm perfectly happy with STATING the obvious, but I'm generally not inclined to discuss it unless I have reason to think that will actually go somewhere, especially about topics I've spent large chunks of my life thinking about, and considering Yu Yu Hakusho is one of the shows that got me into anime a very long time ago as a teen, this is one of those topics.

The emotions challenge journey that Togashi puts his characters and us it's beyond what everyone thinks. This show is too good.

Attia Mazen

I resonated with your 2 comments and thought that they summarized everyone's feelings regarding the bros' bad faith approach to this arc quite nicely. My intention was to just share the consensus of the commenters on youtube regarding the bros' discussion here for a higher chance of the bros seeing it (given that they don't read youtube comments for yyh) and i thought those 2 comments best reflected that. If you want me to credit you or even delete it i've got no problem. Your understanding is much appreciated.

"sir, you clearly copied someone else's homework" "but I changed a few words"

Andrea Andrew

Technically, it didn’t end prematurely. Togashi cut out a lot, but the manga had a decent ending.

Did I necessarily agree with their grievances? No. However, can I understand where they're coming from? Sure. Had I been in the room with them, would I have told them to just calm down and keep watching? Yes. Bottom line is I'd still like to see you guys finish the series and comment on your overall experience!
