Both Hilling and Bebin are very multi-dimensional: -Despite being Daida's mentor/subordinate, Bebin has obvious deference to Bojji (kneeling/speaking with respect). Also, while carrying out Daida's questionable orders, he still has doubts about the magic mirror. -Hilling never really changed despite what some reactors claim. She's always been overprotective and that only intensified when the burden of ruling is brought into question. She saw Bojji (accurately) as a weak person so she did everything in her power to protect him. It's only at this point in time that she recognises how it inadvertently changed their relationship.
