Toasted Toad

Okay, this might have been clearer in full version, but it sounded like you were saying that a dog had a sense of smell and that was its superpower!! :-) And don't forget that Anya was not just lucky. She might have been in the right place at the right time, but she also jumped in the pool without hesitation knowing it was not likely she could rescue the boy herself, that she couldn't swim well enough. She gambled that Loid would rescue her before she drowned. That was courageous as all heck!

I feel like it was pretty apparent that she did not count on loid saving her, she just jumped in without thinking it through all the way.

Not sure about that - she made sure Loid knew where she was going. She could have just run off and left explanations until later. Either way, it was very brave.

Look, despite Loid knowing where she is going, she could have drowned before he got there too. She definitely was brave and jumped in trying to save someone and realised midway that she doesn't have the kind of strength to do it. I think the important thing is that she's a kid and hears someone drowning and jumps in trying to save them regardless of how it looks or what it will mean for her personal gain, which is selfless and quite brave.

Thank you for sharing your experience with your brother, that was quite insightful. It was rather refreshing seeing this reaction. A lot of reactors don't have that sort of experience (which is still a good thing ofc), so they "yell at" the adults in the anime for not being attentive enough. But yeah, hopefully that facility hires a few lifeguards.
